wheel alignment question
i was wondering, do i need to get an alignment if i switch from 215/45/17 aftermarket wheels to 185/70/14 stock wheels ? and i know if i dont get an alignment, it will wear my tires and affect handling, but will it affect it severely ? because i want to know if it's ok to drive around for 1 or 2 days, 30 min to the location and 30 min back, until i have the time for an alignment ?
in all honesty... you don't need an alignment. just switching rims and tires won't matter, as long as you got one done before that.
*i would think the alignment from the 17's would be better than the ones for the 14's

why is that ?
i was wondering, does firestone do good alignment work ?
i was also looking around for other shops, some of the equipment they used are "hunter", while others use "coats" ? can anyone tell me what the difference is ?

alright, my brother took my car to the alignment shop today . the alignment specs were:
front : left .......... front : right
camber: -1.9 ...... camber: -2.2
toe: 0.3 .............. toe: 0.3
rear : left ........... rear : right
camber: -1.3 ...... camber: -1.2
toe: -0.4 ............. toe: 0.3
the alignment guy said that he set the toe out as far as he could in the rear left and that's the best he could get . he told my brother that something is probably bent on the rear left . can anyone else inform me more about my alignment ?
also, a OT question, but how do you know when you need to change your tires . i still got a little bit of tread left on the tire, but how do i know when it is the time to change the tires ?

erik here from ugr. you should check your wear bar. it is a bar that is beetween the thread of the tires. if the bar is alighned with the thread, then you are legally bald. rotation every 3000 miles is a big plus too!

do you got a picture of what the wear bar is on a tire ? or is the wear bar all the slits on the tires ? i looked at my kumho ecstas 712, and i dont know what it is i am looking for ? and when my tires are bald, how many miles are usually left on the tires until it touches the metal inside the tire ? i know running on bald tires is unsafe, but i'd like to use as much of the tires i can before i replace them with new ones .

Place a penny into several tread grooves across the tire. If part of Lincoln's head is always covered by the tread, you have more than 2/32" of tread depth remaining.
