Why do you not want the GC/Koni Set up? Ground Control / Koni are both proven and reputable. They have excellent support and are a high quality product.

You can get any spring rate that you want, including "not too stiff" rates. Would you be opposed to GC/Tokicko or GC/KYB?

If you want a decent setup, then just get some good lowering springs and shocks.
Is there really a reason to deal with coilovers? I used to have Neuspeed Sport Springs with tokico illuminas, it was great for the street.

Yeah, I wouldn't want proven reliability, proven performance, lifetime warranty, great customer service, largest damping adjustment range, choice of any eibach spring rate, or the easiest height adjustment system on the market. I much prefer the pretty anodized crap from Asia...

You asked for help, they tried/helped you. You don't want the help, so quit bitching.

It's "bandwagon" beacuse it's a proven good set up for daily/track?

Why did you swap motor's? Why do you want to boost your car? You're blending in with the crowd and swaping/boosting your motor too.

....Tein SS's, Function/Form, KSport...

In order to search for a good coilover, you first have to know what makes a coilover good. For the most part, you won't find that on H-T by asking for opinions, because the thread will more or less turn out like this one has.
A good starting point (and you probably don't want to hear this, but you wanted help, and thats what you're getting) is finding out what the purpose of a damper is, and a spring. Then you'll find out why damping is important, and why spring rates are important. And then you'll not only be able to see that every coilover is not created equal, but you'll be able to see why. At which time you might be able to make a decision for yourself, instead of asking your typical bandwagon rider.

My 95 gsr is a daily driver and im currently on my 3rd coilover system. My first one was the tein basic damper which was a little bit stiff and rough for me. Some argue that they are soft but i didnt think so. I traded them in for the tein SS which was pretty much the same damn thing. Even with the setting at softest the ss stilled felt a little bit rough. I came to a conclusion that i need softer spring rates. So i chose the tanabe sustec pro ss type 2. I got the ones without the helper springs. The rates are only 6kg front and 4kg rear. which is super soft but hey its a daily driver and i am fine with the softnest. When the tanabe is set on soft it is comfortable but i like to leave mine in the middle setting for both front and rear. I've tried it on the firmest setting and it feels pretty stiff around the corners.

If you want good handling then the teins are great and proven. I enjoy my tanabes much more because they are softer. You have to sacrifice one thing for another.

If youre really balling then i say HKS hipermax. My friend has the set up on his EG and those things are bad ***. When theyre set at soft they still handle great.

Do some searching and i recomend looking into spring rates too. Good luck.

I did offer some other alternatives.

But to really understand what you need, I really need to understand what you want to do with your car...

and WHY you don't want GC / Konis (other than you don't want to be on the bandwagon)

I know that you don't want them, but the big question is WHY?

If you can answer the following questions, we can provide some help

1.) What do you want to achieve by having a coilover system?

2.) Why does GC/Koni not provide this to you

3.) What was wrong with the other alternatives that I provided

I'm not trying to be a jerk, But in reality Honda did a very good job at designing the suspension for their cars. If you have to ask what to do with your suspension, and you are not open to the solutions that people are providing, you SHOULD NOT ASK for help, and you DEFINETLY should NOT be modifying your car. You will probably apply the same asshat attitude on the street, and get someone killed.

If you want to be different than everyone else you can do this:

1.) Buy a Daewoo and modify that.

2.) Construct your own suspension system for less money that is better than
GC/Koni

3.) or Leave your car Stock!

If you want a simple solution look at my first post.

with your comment about going to car meets and not wanting to see the same thing, ill go ahead and make some assupmsion about what you want since you can't seem to asnwer that question.

You don't want something that everyone else has, becasue that "trendy" and a big bandwagon. Well for most of the people that most in the suspension forum, we are looking for preformance, easy transactions, and quality parts.

Koni/GC provides this.

95% of the other companies out there don't. If you have a problem they have to send them back to japan, or were ever to get them checked out. And the problems grow from there.

Seems like you want some ultra rare setup that no one else has, and don't really care about anything else. IF this is true go to the apperance cosmetic forum you can find lots of people who only like ultra rare parts.

Yes there are other decent setups out there but since your question was so vauge and you DON'T want one of the best setup on the market, it makes people question exactly what you do want.
