Default function form suspension

my girlfriend's civic blew another strut. time to buy some after market. they have been replaced multiple times(factory struts) and i want something to last. i was just thinking of grabing koni yellows(was told they last) but a friend told me to look into function form. anyone used these for a period of time? i dont want to replace the struts next year. its a 2000 civic and struts have been replaced twice. cmon now (just some coil overs on stock).

thanks guys! oh and if anyone has another recomendation for struts feel free to point me in a direction. im looking more twards... life when being lowered

If you're blowing out stock suspension repeatedly, then the issue is most certainly not the shocks. Are you using aftermarket lowering springs/cut springs?

she just has some adjustable coil overs. its not slammed or anything either. no chamber kit iethers just.... springs with what do you call them.... ring w/ rod you adjust(coil overs)

friends struts gone out, and our crx as well(both on just lowering springs) i dont cut... thats cheap and just terrible. they eventaulyl wear lower the car... more stress on the struts and they die faster.

Most people call them sleeve-type coilovers, because it's like your putting a threaded sleeve over the shock.

Okay, not all sleeve-coilovers are crap.

The problem is the springs that you are running.

What springs and rates are you running? Where did you get them?

You should really look more into it than just going with "Brand X"

What is the car used mainly for?

Why do you have coilovers?

Does your girlfriend drive "spirited" or does she want to auto-x/track the car?

There are alot more older companies that sell coilovers/suspension kits for the car.

Eibach, H&R, Suspension Techniques, etc.

its just a daily driver. i dotn wnat new springs. i need new struts there is no fluid left and the chasis is sitting on the tire. thinking of just picking up the function form. havnt heard anything wrong and the price looks about right. just cross my fingers and hope they dont blow. i dont know the spring rate as she lowered the car before i met her. this is not "spirited" driven just casual... to the store. to the mothers house. etc etc. car has always been taken care of and is only lowered a small amount. it was never "abused" around a corner .

originally i wasnt looking for new sleeve coil overs just new struts. then i started looking and now we are just htinking of getting coil overs. (with strut)
