Default dissatisfaction

i just bough the tokiko illumina set, with the shocks and springs together, we installed them about two weeks ago, and i am not satisfied with the ride height or stiffness of this set up. I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations as to an agressive spring set with lower ride height. the website says 1.4drop in front, 1 in back. my current valve settings are 3 in the front and 5 in the rear. any help would be awesome...peace guys.

ok so i read something and heard about ground controls, would that be a good move? and if so, what spring rates...i was thinking like 12k front 14k rear? i want this car to handle very well and to have very little body roll...speaking of which, anyone got reccomendations on sway bars?

Illuminas will not handle 14 and 12K...in fact no spring or coilover will without a re-valve.

Off the shelf rates for GC is 380/280 for EK civics, and for $339 + shipping you can get custom rates. You do realize 10K is 565lb springs right? and thats incredibly stiff, I think 14 and 12K may be alittle ambitious.

A spring set-up like 400/450 and 24mm front (stock US SI bar along with a 22mm ITR rear sway bar (needs subframe reinforcement) will get rid of body roll and provide increase rotation cornering.

400/450 is still stiff, you may want to seriously re-consider the stiffness your thinking about. Because you'll have to have your shocks re-valved to start with and you won't even enjoy driving the car on public roads with those 14/12K rates.

There are other options, upgrade the rear sway bar, go with something like 400F, 450R or even 350F, 400R springs which are still stiff.

8K is 450lb springs to give you an idea how far off 14K with its 780lb springs are.

what do you mean by not stiff enough? would you rather sit in a car that shakes your insides when you go over a speed bump? More likely than not, you're confusing stiffness with better handling, try getting a set of good tires. Those spring rates you mentioned are probably way overkill and will be too stiff for most street tires. stiffer != better

as of right now, a lowe ride hieght won't give you any appreciable benefits and the cons of a really low car may just outweigh the pros. Para da specs aren't great tires, if they're worn, look for better tires, if they're relatively new, look into better shock+spring set up if you do more than jsut dialy drive the car, however I can say 10+ spring rates are overkill... if you daily drive it, your susp is fine, if you want it to feel flatter in turns get a set of sway bars... there's alot you can do, but I really suggest better tires, and go from there.

^ yup

the illuminas you have can handle at the most, around 450 lbs of spring. in a 2600 lb car, that's pretty stiff.

400/450 seems like a reasonable spring rate, but i'm not sure how the toki's will respond over time to rates like that.

If you want a lower stance, I would recommend gc with tophats. Inaddition, you should get a rear sway and better tires. Now that should really make a difference.
