Coilover Setup
So I have a setup of coilovers on my car and currently installed.
Tho while installing my adjustable upper control arms I discovered that if I hold the upper perchs that I can turn the shock body up or down, but while doing this it increases or decreases the piston rod showing.
How am I supposed to know how much piston rod is to be shown or does it matter? Does 2" or 6" of shown piston rod make a diffierence?
If this doesn't make sense I will draw a diagram.

If you have adjustable lower mounts, you should make height adjustments from there, it's better.
If you don't have adjustable lower mounts, then you don't have that option.
Either way, you're changing the amount of available shock travel, and yes it will make a difference. Less shock travel = the piston will bottom out inside the shock body more easily, and that isn't good.

I have Ksports so adjustment is made from the bottom shock mount.
But how are you supposed to know the proper adjustment for the piston rod travel? How does one know if its not right aside from taking it for a drive and finding out it bottoms out?

When you're got everything connected and the corner jacked up, the wheel/tire/brakes/knuckle/etc will pull the suspension down to full droop, that is when the shock will be fully extended. Tighten up the spring against the upper mount, and then you'l be fine.

I just noticed it was allowed to do this and then started questioning things like I asked.
