Default coilover question

i bought my car about a year ago and it had coilovers already. i went to adjust them and on the front i put them at the exact same on both sides and pulled the jack out and they were way off. i lowered the passenger side about 4 turns more than drivers side and now it's level. what could be causing the coilovers to be the same?

The weight distribution of any given car is not going to be perfectly even side to side.

Yup.

I lost the sheet from when I had the car corner balanced, but I believe my DC2 was 52/48 left/right without me in it, and 53/47 with me in it.

OP, what you did by leveling the car was effectively throw your cross weights even further off, since you transfered weight from the lighter side (which was higher) over to the heaver side. Probably not a big deal for a street car, but I'd set the spring perches even (and ignore visual height differences) if you intend to need it to corner properly.

so i should put both sides at the same and not worry that it's higher on one side?

Its aesthetics. Set it how you want the car to look.

Fun fact: as a side effect of the uneven weight distribution of the car, the process of corner-balancing a car will often end up with each corner being at different heights, but the end result is a car that handles much better than if all corners were at "equal" heights.

so basically as long as the car is level it really doesn't matter what they're set at?
