Default coilover question

whats the difference between an inverted mono tube desgin and a non inverted mono tube design?

An inverted design mounts the shock body to the upper mount, and the shaft connects to the lower mount. The non-inverted design is the other way around. Most OEM and aftermarket designs use non-inverted, although some use the inverted design, such as the STi's factory dampers.

An inverted design provides less unsprung weight and keeps the shock body further away from the heat generated by your brakes, allowing the oil inside to stay cooler. They are also supposed to be able to withstand higher lateral loads than a non-inverted design.
