how much should an alignment for a lowered 95 civic hatch, with camber kit cost? i paid 120$ for mines to do front and rear. and i found an ad in the newspaper that says they'll do it for 40$. did i get ripped off or is there something different. alot of places I've seen do it for only 45 to 50 for all 4 wheels. i only went to the 120$ place because my teacher said they do a good job and they do it right. does that mean these other places who charge less dont do it right?

Re: Alignment cost? (vi3tromanc3r)
I work for a Dodge Dealership and we charge $49.95 + tax for 2 wheel alignment, and we charge $69.95 + tax for a 4 wheel alignment. It shouldn't cost that much for an alignment, unless they had to replace something.

Re: Alignment cost? (vi3tromanc3r)
Yeah not sure why it would be that much, an alignment is really not that much work. Maybe they figured they could charge you that much cause your Civic is lowered. Then again you're in Cali. and I'm in PA lol!

A lot of shops charge more for a lifted/lowered vehicle. Tha isn't too much money if it's done right. You usually get what you pay for.

I work as a Service Advisor at a Ford dealer and we're $68 for 2 wheel, $113 for 4 wheel.

We don't charge more for an altered vehicle, but most of your inexpensive places find a way to raise the price if they can.

$110 would be a good deal. I have the Firestone lifetime alignment and it was $150. I've used it a few times so far and they always gave me a print out of before and after.

Re: Alignment cost? (vi3tromanc3r)
prices vary just like anything else.

its purely labor. its typically just toe that they adjust tho. it depends on the shop if theyll even touch the camber, you might have to ask them specifically and then they might ask for more moeny since its more work.

and you dont get a 2 wheel alignment on our cars. thats just for trucks or cars with single beam axles that have no rear adjustment what so ever.

for my s2000, i have paid for the $150 lifetime firestone deal. the guy at the place i go to doesnt bother with my camber, so i have to adjust it myself and then readjust my toe with a friends camber gauge and my own toe plates. you might wonder why i bother paying $150 if i can do it myself, well i cant really do the same job lining up the front and back suspensions. its troublesome for me to use strings and whatnot so i dont bother. i use them for an easy alignment just to get the toe and set the front and rear in the same direction. that alone is worth the hassle.

If its done right, its well worth it. Going price around here for a great alignment seems to be in the $85 range but southern california is saturated with alignment shops or overall auto shops.

correction i acutally paid 150 for the alignment, just looked at the reciept and it didnt come with any kind of warrenty. and my car turns to the left a little. im going to try the 40$ place and see how my car drives. my brother got it done there, and he said its fine. and they test drive the car before and after the alignment to make sure its right and they gave him a report on caster camber and toe. seem like a good deal to me

i work in a auto mall we ask 99 do to a 4 wheel alignment. Most of the time we just set toe and go. but if the car can have the camber or caster done we will do it. The only can that we get that we can do it on is the prowler.we they should give you a before and after on your car. If they don't tell them you will not pay till you have one in your hand.

Re: (bmoua)
My local Firestone wanted to charge me double for an alignment because the car had "altered" suspension. They told me they wouldn't warranty their work either. This one local to me always tries to rip me off though. They tried to charge me $125 for a single lower ball-joint. And that was just the part. I told them the part is only $40 directly from Honda, and they told be they could do $60. Needless to say, I picked one up from Pep-boys for $23 and had Firestone install it. *** those guys...

Pep-boys wouldn't touch my car because it was lowered.

Sears didn't have any problem. It cost the normal price of $60 and they said they would do camber as well (I don't have camber adjustment). The guy new just how to get it up on the rack and it only took an hour. They warranty their work for 6 months or so and didn't hassle me because my camber was out of spec... to Sears...

I didn't have any problems. The guys didn't even hassle me because my camber was out of spec. I did ask for 0.00 toe, and ended up with +0.10 on each side in the rear since 0.00 is considered "out of spec" on civics...
