Alignment: where to go?
Where is the BEST place to go for an alignment? My local Sears automotive says they cant align my b/c its lowered? The dealership cost $80 and others cost around $50-$60?
I just dont wanna spend an extra $30, but is it worth it?
Any sugg.?
Where do you guys go to get your alignment done?

a car's alignment is vary important. it affects all of the diffrent aspects of the car handeling. The reason sears won't align your are is since it's lowerd you will have a issues with negative camber witch in a civic so non adjustiable (unless you purchase a camber correction kit) as far as witch place to go ask around see what the word of mouth around town is.

I went to Wheel Works.. its only about $80 and I've been going back every time I've had something done to my suspension for the past few months. They've got a 12 month warranty, hope this helps

I have a friend that is a tech at Vandergriff Acura in Arlington, TX and I had him do all my alignment stuff for my delsol. He did an incredibly awesome job of getting everything just perfect on my car. Rather than getting a camber kit, which sometimes makes really loud *squeak* noises, I had him bend the knuckles to fix the camber. My car rides PERFECT. I'm sure that you can find a place to do it just the same and it's WAY cheaper. He did everything for me for about 100-150 bucks! As for if doing this is "ghetto" or less reliable, a certified tech at an Acura dealership did it, and I trust him fully. Anyways, hope it helps.

how low is the car? You might need new control arms to correct the chamber....and that is why they cannot fix your alignment....three differnt ways to align the car....Toe, Chamber, and (**** I forgot the last one).

The local Sears here (Newark, CA) does have very good equipment. I'm surprise they would not do it if they could get it on the lift. If you (or they) agree that the camber will not be adjusted, they can probably do it.
Wheel Works here (Fremont, CA) have "old equipment" and very good service, cause the owner also works as the manager. But the tech align my Civic with an Accord spec. I didn't know about this until I looked at the print out several months later. The car tracks straight, so I have not take it back yet.
Other shops can't do alignments too if they can't mount the gear on your wheel. If you got custom wheel without the lip, they won't be able to get it on. If they force it on, they may scratch.
Have you tried PepBoys? They did my car before too, and was happy with the work consider I had custom wheel, and lowered.
