alignment
went today to get my 98 integra aligned after installing gc coilovers and they said i needed front camber kit and offset tie rods and the estimate is over 400 bucks?? i know i dont' really need the camber kit but what are they talking about offset tie rods? do i really need this? or should i go to another shop
How much did you lower it? I've never heard of the tie-rod thing before, you might be better off just taking it to another shop.
When I lowered mine on teins they just told me they couldn't do anything with the camber unless I had a kit (didn't buy one anyway) but nothing about tie-rods... The camber was the only thing out of spec after the alignment so I'm assuming that either the toe wasn't that bad on my car to begin with, or you don't really need the offset tie rods.

If your toe was set to spec then you shouldnt have to worry about anything. Alignment shops often only know about setting things to factory specs, and think anything else will screw you tire wear.
How much camber are you running??? If you toe is within range then you should be ok..

camber is NOT a tire wearing angle!!!!!
If toe is set correctly and you dont have an EXTREME amount of camber, you will not wear tires unevenly. I run -2* up front daily and have no tire wearing problems

the camber kits aren't an absolute must have but can be helpful depending on what you're doing with the car. i've been a tech for several years and have done hundreds of alignments, i've never heard of offset tie rods. the only thing that i can think of is that they might be talking about the turnbuckle type upper control arms for the rear.
evs-one is right... camber doesn't really contribute to tire wear.
