it makes the noise when i am in 1st-3rd what is it? is it my trany going? is it going to go out on me just riden down the road? do i need to change my trany oil? used search to look it up and found things about (trany for sale no grind) but that is it

my old D16A6 tranny began to make a horrible throbbing metal noise when in 1st-3rd gear.
never got it fixed because i swapped in a DOHC soon after. my friend pulled the tranny apart and saw that a couple of the bearings were bad. no details on exactly which ones, sorry.

i saw the tranny too looked pretty good except for the bearings i can vouch for

my S1 makes noise as well, I thinks its just gear whine....honestly I like the way it sounds....almost like a straight cut gear but not as pronounced.

 

i drained my trany today and had metal in it not much but some also the oil that came out smells funky not like oil starting off in first it will not make a sound until i hit the gas or i get above 3000 rpm (any more info)

 

What kinda tranny, and what kinda noise? It doesn't grind gears does it?

 

it is ether a SI or ZC. it's kind of like a grinding noise but it dose it when i am in gear not when the clutch is engaged. some time when i go into 3rd hard it will grind but that's the only gear. so i don't think that it is the syncros could it be a bearing?

Sounds like an input shaft bearing (Same problem on one of my SI's).

Easy to fix, just a pain in the *** to get to the bearing.
