Default No power over 6krpm, PLEASE HELP

Dear All

A few days ago I put up a post saying that my car wouldnt do over 110. Things have got much worse. Ive got a stock (apart from a Blitz SUS air filter) UKDM B18C6 ITR. About a week ago i realised that when it hit VTEC in 5th, that it wouldnt rev any higher then 6k, VTEC is kicking in (or it sounds like it), but there is no power there, it will sit at 6k in VTEC for about 10 sec before dropping out of VTEC again. I also noticed a flat spot in 4th from 6k-7krpm, but today this got much worse. In every gear (including 1st) there is a noticeable lack of power, but in 1st-3rd it can still pull through it, in 4th and 5th it will not pull. The car drives perfectly out of VTEC, with no problems whatsover. A few months ago I had the rotor arm screw come loose, wrecking the arm and dizzy cap, I replaced the arm and cap, and the car felt OK, but VTEC was louder and less powerful. I dont have a timing light, so I didnt check or set the timing at this time. Im getting fed up of it, so next week im gonna book it into honda. If any of you have any ideas what this could be, please post, as im fresh out of ideas, ive checked oil level/quality, the VTEC seems to be engaging, so can I assume that the solenoids working???? If anyone has ANY ideas ill be most grateful.

Many Thanks
Rgds.
John

Compression, timing, plugs, wires, distributor, oil... have you checked the basics before you get too worried.

check the freaking timing for christs sakes since you were messing around with the distributor. and do what rob said too, and even get a valve adjustment for good measure.

You hit VTEC in 5th...sounds like you are asking for a problem, lol.

My first bet would be your oil level...

From how you described it sounds like low oil level, check your oil, honda motors seem to like it for some reason, my 96 itr motor sure did
