which layer?
Im going to replace the head gasket on my civic. (d15 block mated a 98 non vtec head). Why do i keep on hearing that taking that middle metal layer ads power? Is it true? Should I?
proven. But by doing so you have to remove the rivits that hold the gasket together. its not hard, but you do not want to damage the gasket by doing so.
i recommend spraying it with a copper spray after you remove the middle gasket and put it together.
<~~ btw i have done this and it will raise the compression. its like milling the head an extra 10th or something like that. good for .1-.3 compression.... can anyone confirm how much it raises the compression...?

I'm sure that it bumps compression but it is worth the hassle? Manson did you feel any increase by the butt dyno? Just seems to me as it is useless for the amount you pick up...but that said it would be nice to have real numbers. I have been totally wrong before.
if u already got the nonvtec gasket keep it and disregard but the vtec headgasket is thinner im not sure if they got rid of the two different gaskets but they were saying they were goin to so yeh if u didnt get one yet get the y8 gasket not the y7.....i have had this head swap on the d15 much better head than the d15 head ull like it smaller compression chambers bump up compression also with this head swap....good free power since i got the head free a while back....make sure u have the water hose fitting for the front of the head they are not the same as far as i remember i needed that when i did the head swap...also theres a company that makes a cam for the head cant think but u can do a search and find it pretty good cam for it well worth the 70 bucks for the regrind

oh give me a break...so i missed spelled it. I was answering my phone at time i was writing that, thats why that happened. I have a impecable "vtec" spelling record.!!!
