Hey while i was driving the other day my radio just shut off, the next day my car died so i took it to the dealer and he put in a new alternator... but the radio still wont come on.

What can the problem be? Is there more to it to get the radio back on?? And if i replace the factory radio with my cd deck will it work??

 

you probably blew the radio's fuse

 

so check the fuse box under the hood or is it under the steering wheel?

 

i don't have my manual with me - and i have a 95lx - but i'm pretty sure if i remember right it's under the hood. there should be a sheet on the one under your hood telling you what each fuse # does....if it ain't there it's just to the left of your left foot when you're driving (if it's the same as a 95)

 

well i checked under the hood and the diagram said 7.5 Radio (backup) and 2 spaces above was just a regular 7.5 fuse... i tried swapping them radio still doesnt work... and when i went into the car my clock was reset. Im going to go and buy fuses... but if i go ahead and install my cd player do u think it will work???

 

Replacing the alternator is like takin all your power away. Try the radio code im pretty sure thats what happened. If you install a cd player you should be straight. If the anti-theft light is on there is power going to the unite

For safe measures:
1. Take off positive battery cable for 2-3 mins
2. Reconnect
3. Turn on car and enter radio code given to you

 

i got it to work, there were 2 fuses blown a 7.5 and a 15 which was for the radio, i also installed the cd deck.... another question:

Do i need a mounting kit? or can i use what it came with??

 

The easiest way to tell if you would need a kit would be to go to http://www.crutchfield.com , pick out a radio of the same size as what you have, put it in your cart and see if they automatically add a kit.

If they add a harness but no kit, you don't need a kit. If they do add a kit, then you probably need one. If you need one, just check out any local stereo installer, they'll sell you a metro kit for ~ $12 or $15. For the harness, look at some place like Wal-mart, you should be able to pick one up for ~ $7 or so (or you could buy the harness from the stereo install place for ~ $12 or $15).

 

where is the 15 located at? having same problem. wats the name for the 15 btw like wat is it for

You can get a dash kit, or with a little work you can use the factory pocket. Using the factory pocket looks better, but it isn't fun making sure it stays and looks perfect.

Check in the driver side kick panel.

 

there is a lot of 15 if u no wat i mean. need to know which one i should check. TIA

 

its in the row where the 2 7.5s are... i believe it says radio, ciggerate lighter, and something else

 

 

changed that, still doesnt work. neother help?
