Street brake pads
I searched, and found some decent info, but not exactly what I was looking for. I need pads for my wifes RSX-S. I'm looking for a good pad as she occasionally auto-x's, and well, I prefer it if she avoids accidents. On the other hand though, I want them to be quiet. I've had some race pads before that would sqeal like a rat. Since the car is 99% daily driver, the silence of the pads is more important than their stopping power. I had the AEM Nissin pads on an accord a while back, and they seems to be a good compromise. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Any pad that performs better is going to be a compromise in noise or dust or pad-life to some degree. I think the Hawk HPS might be a good pad for this if she wants to autocross often, but if its just a passing or once in a blue moon thing, there are lots of "ceramic-enhanced" OEM pads that work well, too.
Axxis Ultimates are a great street/autox pad. I've used them on a few of my cars with great success. A huge improvement over the stock pads.

Since you have a RSX Type S the brakes are awesome already. I would just go with stock. The tires suck though so if you change those then the car can have alot of stopping power. plus it's OEM stuff so you know it would work well.
my wife autocrossed her miata and we went round and round on a good compromise for brake pads. the hawks can get loud. the ebc pads were very good, low dust, no noise, but not a good as a higher coeff pad.

Ya, I had heard some good things about the greenstuff.. I'm kinda making the assumption that any semi-metallic pad is going to give some squealing at some point. Is that a good assumption to make?
I've run AXXIS and Cobalt GT's. The GT's due squeal at times but offer great braking for everyday and track use. I have TYPE-S brakes on my EP and even noticed a difference just with stock pads. Hit me up, I have pads in stock.

how long does the stock oem brake pads usually last for on a type s? im at almost 30k and its getting kinda weak. how much does it usally cost for new pads + install>
Ok bro for just daily driving and an occasionaly auto X just stick with the stock pads. I ran the Cobalt GT-Sport pads in front and Axxis ultimates in rear and they had insane stopping power but the GT-sports squealed louder then a semi and I had anti squeal gel on the brakes. Those pads lasted me 4 months with daily driving. The Axxis lasted a little longer.
I just did a road racing event this past weekend on stock pad with Stainless Steel Brake lines ( stoptech.com) and ATE super Blue brake fluid and they held up fine. If the stock pads can do well on the track with hard braking then they will hold up more then fine on the streets.

it is a good assumption. some tend to squeal more than others.
ps...porterfields eat rotors. i drove a spec miata in a regional last year and the pads were great, but the rotors were thin! i was surprised.

Cool. Thanks for all the info. Sounds like I'll just go stock one more time. Won't really matter till I can eat through the crappy michelins anyway.
Toss those *** michelens. They are more dangerous then safe bro. They do not stop at all and will not help your in your braking distance. Toyo is a nice tire or falken azenis.

I'd go with yok es100 not a bad price for them.

I've noticed. I doin't know what Honda was thinking, especially for the Type-S model. I'll probably be going for ES100's as replacement, but I don't want to replace a tire with full tread, as sucky as they are.

same here. es 100s are pretty good tires I have a buddy with them on a eg and they work pretty well in rain and dry. not sure how long they will last though.
