ok, my bro just came back from bringin his civic to a service shop to change brake pads and such....and when he got the car back..it started to make this awful squeek noise ...sounded dangerous to drive, but you can still drive. Also now, the ebrake doesn't go all the way up like it used to, it only goes like 1/8 the way up. Anybody know what the squeeky noise is? Those stupid farks said it was my CAI...lol

 

they didnt use anti-squeak stuff on the brakes.. that is why they are squeaking.. his e-brake cable was probably really lose so they tightened it up..

No they didnt adjust it correctly, they needed to move the adjuster for the rear brakes.

Also did they use aftermarket pads? did they turn the rotors?

I have no clue man, i'm its probably stock pads; it was from like midas or something. so is ok to leave the ebrake the way it is?

 

You get what you pay for..

Pay somenoe you can TRUST to do your work next time.

I learned the hardway (let someone work on your **** and then something happens they don't want to have anything to do with fixing it or want you to wait like a month)

 

Well, the brake pads are probably much thicker now so the e-brake handle doesn't have to travel so far up.

Why would they adjust any part of the e-brake line just to replace the pads anyway?

hahahaha midas probably bought the cheapest pads they found from autozone/checker, NOT OEM. i work at an AZ and midas has a nationwide commerical account with us. so dont be surprised if you have 10$ brake pads on there.

Well if you have rear drums inorder for the car to fix correctly you need to adjust the cable, infact most people adjust the cable as the drums get worn since the pedal will increase. So once the time to install new pads you need to adjust back the cable or you will get increased drag on the rear shoes, or sometimes the technician cannot fit the drum since the brake cable controls the distance of the shoes.
