Default air intake vote

which u rather have? the stock air intake or the aftermarket 1? the reason i asked bec i heard the stock air box and intake tube is better than the aftermarket 1 bec it dont get alot heat from the engine when the aftermarket metal tube does.
i am currently running a stock air box and tube but i did gut it a little bit and it think it works well with a k/n filter.

so what would u guys rather have instead?

Aftermarket. When I autocross, I spray down the intake and mani after every run anyway, along with the Azenis.

short ram does the trick...plus a d15 rubber tube on a b16 just don't sound like a good idea, oh yeah it prolly wouldn't of fit neither

....so i run a eg b16 rubber tube on a hks short ram intake that i got from some nice internet store in california but i forgot who it is

Air wil absolutely heat up in the intake path, in both the "intake" (before the TB) and in the intake manifold (from TB to head).

phenolic spacers for the head-intake manifold have been used for years... if not decades, for this very purpose - Keep intake temps lower. The difference may be slight with a AL intake tube vs. plastic, but the difference is there.

oh yeah, I run a resonator free stock intake that pulls air from the fender. I'm going to find a 90-93 Teggy intake rubber (airbox to TB) soon too (it's a bit larger diameter IIRC).

I cut the factory box open at the bottom, K&N filter, xsi intake pipe. Its as good as a cai.
Oh ya, I have a duct from the bumper too.

I just recently changed back to the stock airbox after using an ebay "chromed out" short ram. The stock airbox with no resonator behind the bumper and K&N filter seems better than the short ram and looks 2x better! I might cut the bottom out of it like the other guy said he had done I havent thought about that before. Anyways its quiter and dosent whistle like the short ram. When i swap to b16 i dont think the dx airbox and tube will work anymore

Due to its puny size, the stock airbox is about as bad as bad gets. Especially if you are running a B-series motor.
