Idle Air Control Valve ERROR Code 14??PLEASE HELP....
Hello, I have a 99 civic ex... Ive been haveing some trouble with my idle lately now my Check Engine light is on. I connected the wire harness together and turned the key to the on position at which time I got the Error code 14. After calling my local dealer they told me they do not sell the part seperately and that they could only send me the whole throttle body, OUCH thats $500. I really dont wanna do that so I was wondering if it would be possible to clean. If so how? If it matters, The car does not have a motor swap and the only engine uprgrades are a intake, headers and exhuast. ANY AND ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
wtf!? that is the biggest load of crap ive heard! you can just take the IACV off and clean the screen with brake parts cleaner & that fixes it 90% of the time. If you are still having problems with it, just buy a used one from someone for cheap! also, there are many threads on this site about this, just search and you can find DIY steps to fix it
I think your confusing the IACV(on the back of the intake manifold) and the fast idle valve(on the bottom of the throttle body).
This is the IACV:
Note* The clip that plugs into the IAVC is being pointed at, but that whole assembly is actually the IAVC.
Make sure the connector is plugged in and the coolant lines are connected.
Then pull it off and clean the screen with some brake cleaner.
See if that works.

hey, i got a Civic EX (97 i believe) TB with the IACV on it in working shape, i can clean it up. Email me if you want this part, 25$ okay?
Yo wait, your car automatic or manual, it matters, i got the one IN the tb, which is for a Auto.
The 99 Civic EX manual transmission has the IACV on the manifold, like in the pic.

yeah i just realised you said that the IACV was on the TB? its on the intake manifold.... the throttle body has the FITV which is a VERY different thing. One you fix buy screwing in a plunger that possibly came loose and the other you clean with carb cleaner. Find out exactly which one it is!
NO 96-00 Civic has a FITV, so don't bother hunting for it.
I have a 99 hatch, stock, with the D16Y7 which uses a 3-wire IACV that is mounted on the throttle body. My IACV froze up on me sometime ago and after warming up the motor, I used some throttle body cleaner sprayed directly into the IACV entry hole (when it was frozen, you could just hear air being sucked into this hole - easily identifiable problem). This cleaned it well enough that it hasn't given me any problems in >20k miles.
I also did not have to remove the IACV - this may not be the case with the 2-wire IACV's that are mounted on the intake manifold. If you do remove it and you disconnect the coolant lines running to it, make SURE to rebleed your coolant system as air bubbles **** with the ECT sensor and will cause the idle to hunt.

This is the D16Y8 5-speed IACV - as you can see, it IS available seperately.

This is the D16Y8 auto IACV - as you can see here too, it is also available for seperate purchase.
If you only plan on cleaning it, and you have to remove, I'd suggest replacing the gasket (its also available for purchase seperately from the IACV - makes one wonder if removing the IACV and cleaning it is something the dealer may do as preventive maintenance or something they check/clean with a hunting idle complaint, as these IACV's tend to get dirty and stick over time).

This car must be an automatic if it has the IACV on the throttlebody, the 3 wire unit. Otherwise, HONDA makes no sense saying that if you DONT have an automatic.
if it is a 3 wire TB mounted unit, clean it, or, i have a functioning 3 wire iacv i can sell you for 10 bux + ship.
