I got a SS DC 4-1 header installed about 6 months ago. It was polished and bronze. Is this a special edition. There wasn't any rainbow color so I knew it wasn't used. Is this standard w/ the SS polished DC headers?

But it's normal for brand new SS polished headers to be bronze rather than silver?

 

yeah you could have taken some rubbing compound and shined it back to silver if you wanted to. <shrugs> its fine if you were worried before.

 

but in the box they come bronze??? then why show pics of silver on the web sites and stuff?

 

I bought a used one and its bronze....changing colors as well but mostly bronze

You're certain it was brand-new? My SS DC Sports JDM 4-1 was a polished silver color when new, but turned a gold/bronze after being exposed to the exhaust heat. It sounds to me as if your header was used when you received it.

 

Cmon guys...as much as everyone criticizes everyone else (to the point where people actually apologize for not being knowledgeable), no one even reads his post.

He said he bought it brand new and it was bronze already. My first question like the other guys who read, are you sure it was brand new?

 

Yup, If you bought it "brand new" and payed "brand new" prices for it then you got ripped-off If it is SS then it should be silver in color when its new. That means yours was run on an engine. It doesnt take very long for it to turn bronze in color, but still, that "new" header was used before you bought it.

 

Yeap it was run on an engine. Did it have carbon on the inside when you installed it?

Actually thinking about it...I wasn't around when they installed it.....How long would it take to turn bronze from silver?

They had the car in the morning for about 2 hours.

 

Mine changed color almost instantly. Call up the shop and ask them if it was bronze or silver.

Yeah I did install it where I bought it from.

I think it was silver and then they ran it and it turned bronze....thanks everyone.
