Default d16z6 vs DC ZOHC

Allright, there have been a bunch of DOHC vs. B16A. I think that is pretty unfair. The choices I am looking at while staying in d series is the zc DOHC and the D16Z6. I know one has better market support while the other has more torque. I am wondering what most people think or would pick. Which one has more potential? Which swap is cheaper? Which one would be easier to build and more reliable? I tried searching but I would also like some new input as well. There is no need to hate either.

Thanks.

z6 would be easier to build but a bit harder swap cause if oyu wanna do it right you gotta convert to obd1 but the Z6 gets my vote....

swapping to obdI is not that hard. when i swapped my z6 into my 89 hatch i bought the obd0-1 conversion kit, used my 89 si tranny so the block and tranny bolted right up into my car without any problems, wired in a couple wires for the vtec, wired in the 4 wire 02 sensor, and i was done. oh, and i had to extend a few plugs for everything to plug into the correct spot, but that was easy too.

yea but the power in stock form is very close and most likely they will be modified so dosent make a difference.....most zc complaints i hear are that the parts are hard to come across and for the z6 i dont think there is something you cant find.

because OBDI is the way to go.

That way you can run Hondata should you ever go FI etc.

Besides, I've never really seen a ZC lay down the kind of numbers they should be.

ZC are also older engines, which could by why they are never laying down the right numbers.....

well, even when they've got great compression they don't seem to be '130 hp' as they're usually advertised.

Either one is okay, I have a zc. A d-series engine is cool but any sort of d build-up requires planning.

My zc was a vey reliable engine until i sucked up a quart of water. Now its time to see how a z6 runs since the motor is very easy to come by. the computer on the other hand??

Stock vs Stock I like the ZC. But when it comes to aftermarket, and more fun, the Z6 is the only way to go. Unless you got a lot of money to build a ZC.. OBD1, AFC, tuning with VTEC it makes it more fun. But the DOHC ZC is better stock vs stock, IMO.

z6, , the reasons for z6 are huge aftermarket support, replacement parts availability, obd1, and of course VTAK y0

if youre gonna go DOHC might as well make it a B-series

not true. you can stay obd0, and either get vafc or some other type of vtec controllers.

Hmm...going obd1 is one of the biggest positives, especially if you ever plan on going turbo. Hondata is your friend. My cousins 92 Vx hatch w/d16z6 at 6psi, boost creep to 9psi at 6k rpm, DHR port/polish head, and Zex camshaft just ran a 12.9 this weekend on small *** slicks, they look like spare tires. Although, there is Turboedit for the obd0's now, so whichever you can find easier to tune or get tuned!
