Default small radiators without problems?!?

So i'm trying to fit one of those huge *** saab intercoolers in with a stock LS radiator in my 95cx...

i keep seeing pictures of cars boosted with teh half size radiators, like my stock CX engine radiator? is that all i need? will that work fine? it's time for a new radiator and if i could use a small one that would be huge! thanks...

The thing is the full size teg is a single core. The half size most people get is a dual core essentially the same area just not as much cooling surface. I put in my half size dual core off a Del-Sol vtec and installed with minimal difficulty. Hardest part is moving the bottom radiator mount over. Filled her up and started with no problems. I idled for the longest time trying to get the fan to turn on and make sure it works. It was a hot day and I was getting worried that the fan didn't work. But finally after about 15min it turned on for about 30 seconds and cooled off the radiator 10 degrees according to Uberdata. Even boosted these things are fine.

I have even seen people run with half-size SINGLE cores and they have some problems but not many from what I have SEEN only. The dual cores will be more then sufficient.

one thing to keep in mind is how much clearance space you have in your car. if it has been in a collision before, you might just be that last little ^$^$%&% .00002 of an inch short. just make sure you get a NEW radiator, i have seen too many things go wrong with old clogged radiators.

the viggen 7" IC? You'll have to move the half radiator over about 2" to the drivers side if you haven't figured it out yet. Dropping it down an inch helps with hood>rad cap clearance too. the best way is to weld on new support tabs for the radiator. I use a dual core from a civic si. never overheated even a little.

no, the intercooler i'm using is off an 87 saab 9000, it's huge, takes up the entirity of the front of the bay - just like a LS radiator would, so they ahev been sitting one on top of the other, but there are clearence issues and i need a new radiator anyway, maybe i should get a pic...

next question, is there any difference between teh civic SI dual core, i assume it's only half length, and the del sol dual core half length?

Oh ya, i have a few of those saab ICs. 7 series Volvo ICs are almost exactly the same with a slightly different endtank on one side.

It's gotta be too tall for a civic. Have you put in in w/o the radiator to see if you can even shut the hood? If you could fit it I bet it would support around 300whp though

I have a 2000 prelude and I just installed a pwr dual core about a month ago to fit my one fab mani in. I timed it to see how long it would take for my fan to come on b4 and after the install.

8 minutes before fan

more than 15 minutes plus I had to rev it up and rest it at 3k rpms b4 my fal fan finally kicked on. Cooling is fugin fantastic

yah, it fits, barely.... i'll get pics soon.... it's mounted with the LS radiator, ludetech, good stuff, i'm just worried about direct air contact - my intercooler will be getting all of it and the air for the radiator will have to pass through the intercooler first... is that how your setup is also?? if now you guys think that will be an issue?

The IC you have lets quite abit more air through than a regualr one. I think you'll be fine even with a half width radiator.

The part that says one row means single core. Only some civic radiators have the dual core. I forget which ones but only a few models and years. IF you want the dual core it's like $99 at radiatorbarn.com. It's the 95 delsol vtec i believe. Just make sure it's half the length as the standard integra and it says two row (dual core). Hope that helps

It should be twice as thick as a single core

Would this radiator be a direct drop in for a 2000 Civic EX? Or would the brackets or mounts need to be moved?

I'm 95% sure it should be a direct drop in if you already have the half-size radiator. I don't know about clearance issue about the thickness, but if you have the room the overall size is only 2x thicker...not taller or wider. Can anyone confirm this is a drop in?

It is the half size radiator on my car and it looks like I'd have plenty of room in front of it for the extra thickness, since my turbo intake is going to be on the other side. Can anyone confirm for sure that it is a direct drop in?
