Default Hydro lock with short ram intake??

I know that with a cold air intake I can get a bypass valve to avoid getting water in my engine, but would a short ram system eliminate this threat also? Would it perform as well as a cold air intake? Thanks.

Oh, get a K&N filter too right?

Yea you shouldnt have to worry about the hydrolocking. I have a ebay short ram with a nice k&n filter. Also the apexi filters are nice too.

If you hydrolock your engine with a short ram, I think hydrolock is actually the least of your problems.

what are you trying to say? do you even know what's hydrolock is?

you pretty much cannot suck in water with a shortram unless you trying to cross the altantic ocean with your accord.

is there a difference in performance in the short ram and cold air intakes?

Short ram's suck in hot air from the engine where as cold air are routed by the wheel well away from the engine and suck in cooler air.

Of course I know what hydrolock is. Perhaps I didn't word my response well. Gimme_h22 was originally asking if he needed a bypass valve for his short ram intake. What I was attempting to say was that if you hydrolock your car with a SRI then the hydrolocked engine is the least of your problems becuase the water is probably on the inside of the car. With water that high up, I'd be more worried about getting out alive rather than my engine hydrolocking.

theoretically yes, but in reality no.....

both will net you an unnoticable amount of power gain...short ram may increase throttle response, but im not 100% sure of it

Ive noticed better throttle response with my Short Ram, Engine Heat normally isn't a problem because my filter sits behind the Battery, and it never seemed to get warm at all. I change my CAI to short Ram during the Rainy season.

if you hydrolock with a short ram, you must of either did it by accident... or you deserved it...
