Default Oil light after engine start

What is the maximum time to switch the oil light off after engine is started? In my ITR, it lights for about 0.5 to 1 second after starting for the first time, isn't it too much? I switched from 5w50 sytnthetic oil to 10w40 semi and the time period seems longer now. If I start the car for a second time, it switches off immediatelly.

When does your oil light switch off?

That's normal. Switch to 0W-40 in the winter if you want it to be shorter.... (not much diff.)

I'm using 5w/40 fully synthetic oil and my light takes approx 1 second to go out, possibly even a little longer, but its always doen that in all hondas i have owned so i think its normal enough

that light is telling you that there is no oil pressure for the second, all cars after an oil change do that.

Odd. You might want to hook up an oil pressure gauge to see whats going on in there. I never had a car still that long enough for the oil pressure light to come on when first started.

Even a cheap simple/ temporary one so you can get an idea...

Mine does that as well after cold starts. Usually a second or two. First time I noticed it took that long, I nearly had a heart attack, but the oil light turned off right then.

I'm running 5w30 Mobil 1.

Isn't the pressure sonsor located higher than on other Hondas? My Prelude didn't do that..

No knocking at all, the engine runs like new.

The major ones I can recall from when I spoke to my engine builder were:

1) Bearing clearances

2) Climate that one lives in. Temperature that is.

But ya. I usually use 10w30 myself as it never gets to freezing temperature where I live, but I had several gallons of 5w30 left so I decided to run that for now.
