SUp.. guys.. i got a 96 civic hatch.. with a stock motor for now... non-v-tec.. yea i no slow... lol but i got an auto meter tac and i wanna no wat is perfect shift point... wat RMP should i set it 2 light up.. cuz i have 2 buy the chip for it.. thanx alot.. also if u got any websites that sell them.. i belive they are called "pills" lil yellow chip that clips on it thanx!

 

Umm for normal driving I usually shift at 3k. If I wanna smash (not sure if it's even called smashing on this motor) I shift when the needle hits 6k.

 

3.5k to 4 is good. If you want to "dump" on somebody then anything between six and seven is ideal, whatch the first and second gear, they're trickly with SOHC. The third gear is what I call the "lag" gear. You should double cluctch that while "dumping" on somebody.

 

I have a Z6 and I usually shift like 3300 normal driving and dump around 6k on someone its probably close to that on a D15 too

 

96 hatch redlines at 6800, but you can shift at 7k no prob..

No reason to really go above 6k tho in a stock D15 is there? Not even any vtec up there, you're just pounding the motor

I've gotten mine to seven but it may not have been a good idea. And yes, it does stop making power in the sixes now that you mention it, matter of fact anything past 5.5 is pretty much just your engine asking to go to another gear. Brain fart, my bad.

true. the y7 stops making power after 6k. but why shift early??? the y7 doesn't make any power around 3k either and thats where its gonna land when you shift early around 6k, so whats your point????

You should lay off the crack for a while, it's bad for you.

 

Set your shift point to 10,000rpm. The more you rev it the more power you'll get out of it .

seriously though, dont go past 6k. you really should be shifting around 3k in daily driving anyways since optimal fuel efficiency/distance or w/e is around 2500rpms.

besides, the y7 has no power anyways, so why rev it and hurt it?!

 

6200 after that nooo powa at all..put some **** on it and youll make better powa at 3000. my 3rd gear rocks... turbo your ******

Normal driving you shift at 4500rpm? LOL! That's way too much time in each gear. I have a d16z6 93 Si, I shift at 2500 "normally", 2100 "efficient" and around 6200 driving hard in a straight line. On a road course, I'll wind that bitch out and keep her hovering at 6400 for ten minutes if I can keep my speed through the corners.

I'm assuming, though, that the originator of the post is a ricer and wants to know how high he can wind his motor without ******* **** up, and on that note I would suggest no higher than 6600rpm because you're making more noise than power above that threshold. Regardless, you'll probably misshift and **** something up, so do whatever you want .

Usually between 1500 and 1700. I don't have an interior or any accessories, so my car doesn't require much motivation to keep her moving .

 

not much torque down there , least not enough for my likings...
