eBay parts any good?
I was wondering if anyone on here has much experience with parts purchased through eBay. I've seen a lot of posts about the motor mounts available on there and the opinion on that seems to be split fairly evenly, but I was wondering if anyone has experience with any of the other fairly common parts on there such as strut tower bars, struts and springs, intakes, headers, exhaust, cam gears, underdrive pullys (do those things really make much difference anyway?), and last but not least engines. Thanks
strut bars: cheap mostly for looks
intakes: it's just a metal pipe whether its AEM or generic
engines: well those are made by honda so you don't have much option on that.
headers: super cheap..i would be concerned about welds but I can' imagine it being too bad.

Read the auctions carefully and know exactly what you are bidding on. There are some real kings when it comes to loopholes and smokescreens. And watch the shipping costs. Some of the merchants must be smoking something with their rediculous markup on shipping...
i got a strut bar set (4 peices) for 71 shipped. I was really impressed with them, the rear upper and rear lower really stiffened up the back end of my crx and it just felt more glued to the road and no more hatch noises! I think an intake is an intake as mentioned...... I am curious to know a final on those ebay "super ecu chips"

This is true. You also have to consider that some sellers don't know what they have. As an example i've seen complete ITR intake manifolds go for $200.
Always check the pic/description closely.

i been buying off ebay for like 2 years. like someone else said read the auction very carefully and check the sellers feedback rating. remember what you get what you pay for, but i have scored some sweet deals on ebay . i like ebay for junkyard type scores that i cant find in my local yard, replacement parts. as far as the stuff some of those guys make well like i said you get what you pay for .
Thanks....are there any sellers that anyone can think of that I should just straight up avoid? Also, I'd like to hear from more people who purchased engines through eBay and what kind of luck you guys have had.
Engines on ebay actually seem a little more expensive than at say. hmotorsonline.com or nippon-motors.com Check prices and call the company or seller on ebay and get some info about how they get them what they do and what not. Do some research before getting an engine, it could be a costly mistake. As far as im concerned with buying things, I don't usually buy anything from anyone with less than 10 feedback.
i've had great luck so far. 2 years and i only left negative feddback once, and that was just cause the guy didn't answer my emails. it also took like all most 6 weeks to get it.
power sellers are always safe. just start searchng and browsing and you will figure out who's pretty safe to buy from. they even have a walk through vid on there if you look. it will teach you every thing lol. good luck

A lot of the cheap strut bars on ebay are hinged. I really wouldn't recommend hinges on the strut bars especially for the front upper and lower. No matter how hard you tighten they will lose tension and you'll get flex again.
Cold Air Intakes on ebay A+ It's just a metal pipe. Just watch out for auctions with generic titles like 90 91 92 93 94 95 cold air intake because they obviously have no idea what they're talking about and they'll just send you a bent pipe that'll fit nowhere. Also they may send you a pipe that fits, but then the filter cone is too large and won't clear the hood, especially if it goes to where the stock air-box is on the EF's and the wheel well bump is there.
FYI On front-upper strut bar purchases!! The cheap strut bars (at least from my experiance) do not provide clearence for the Dual Point Fuel Injection intake manifolds. Unlike the neuspeed strut bars that have a 2 inch twist down and around, the cheap ones just go straight over the intake manifold. They only clear over the full fuel injection intakes, which are lower in the engine bay. Only my experiance, though, you may have a different one.
Ebay is the best, but very tricky. Watch your ***.

I purchased my engine from ebay because everyone was sold out of gsr's with lsd. "enginesrus" had one, and when I called on the phone he was way cooler than steve(hmotors), cuz you know how steve can be... all quiet and not to the point.
Well this seller was giving me very straight answers and very helpfull. Shipped on time, good product, 100% feedback, and over like 1,000 sales. I must have talked to him on the phone like 10 times!! He was cool

Awesome....keep the input coming. I know a lot of other people out there are probably in the same situation I am (not a whole lot of extra cash but want to go faster). eBay seems to be a good option, but like all of you guys have said, ya gotta be careful. Keep the info coming though, as I'm interested to hear what kind of experience people have had (good or bad). I know a lot of people can probably benefit from this info. And if you've had really terrible experiences with certain sellers don't hesitate to let us all know who they were.
Ive gotten alot of stuff off of ebay and only had 1 minor problem. I got a tranny that was supposedly a 89 model but it was an 88 model, Not only that but he took forever to ship it and kept lying about when it was shipped.
I got my ATE super blue brake fluid, brembo drums, hawk hps pads, short shifter, seat belt pads, ac compressor, ac seals, and prob a few other things I forgot about for my CRX off of ebay. I will prob get more stuff for my CRX off of ebay. Its a great source for parts if you know what you are doing.
