Timing light........I have a few questions

Default Timing light........I have a few questions

Ok here are my questions?
1.Does it have to be a special timing light designed for 4cyls or can i use any timing light?
2.Can someone explain to me how theese things work

You can use any timing light. You hook it up to the #1 plug wire. When it senses the cylinder/wire fire, it sends a flash of light through the timing gun. Then you point the light at the timing mark and then line up the marks for your timing needs.

Hey i got another question. Does the timing light just help to tell if your ignition timing is off. Or will it help you to tell if your cam timing is off too?

isnt a timing light just good for ignition timing?? how does it do cam timing??

It is just for ignition timing. You cannot tell if you cam-to-crank timing is off a tooth or not.
