my H22 acting weird
Yesterday I did the 1200km trip. Everytime I go that long trip I check all fluids in the engine before start. I topped the oil of course. When I reach my destination I checked oil again. The oil level was on the lower dot on my dipstick
I wasn't happy at all as I didn't use VTEC much (3 times maybe). OK, I filled it up again and went back. I drove the same manner like before: cruising at 4k, VTEC 3-4 times as needed.
I was back at home at midnight, parked car in the garage. In the morning I checked the oil level again. It was on the upper dot... It didn't burn any oil... WTF... Would you make up the decision damn H22, please?
Some info: H22A2, 226 kkm (140 kmiles), oil semisynt Shell 10W40.
What's more I checked the coolant level. It was OK (like expected), but I found kind of ash (??) on the radiator cap... It wasn't greasy, no oil in the coolant, but some of this wet ash.... What could it be? Is it a symptom of headgasket giving up?
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks

more info about fuel (maybe this is an important factor?)
way there- 98 octane fuel
way back- 95 octane fuel
Can different fuel burning temperatures cause oil to dissapear?

higher octane fuels combust at higher temperatures therefor stopping engine knock/preignition on high compression engines. Mines run on 98 everyday and ive never had an oil burnig issue.
I would jack the car up take a good look around underneath and around the oil pan, make sure you dont have any oil leaks anywhere.

Those are normal fuel grades here (Europe/Poland). We have also 99+ fuel made by Shell which is supposed to have 102 octanes but it's pricey.
But on the other hand would be be willing to pay 4$ for gallon? Doubt it...

I dont know about poland but here in England 70% of fuel cost per litre is TAX.
We're Tax'd twice on fuel
Damn Gov'ment beurocrats.

Sounds about right EuroCommunism
I was wonderig if it is the same product but Im not 100% sure because of the rating of 98-99oct on Optimax but I think the Vpower might be 'better' car-food because of the higher Octane Rating of your V-Power stuff
