Looking for soft ride...
Ok, I know I'm in the minority here...
Own a stock 1996 Honda Accord EX 4-cylinder with 96,000 miles.
I would like to replace the OEM shocks/struts with something to give me a little more "cush" for the long trips but not induce too much body roll or slop (I'm not a racer but I do drive the corners a little fast). I've recently moved and will have to endure 60-65 mile (one way) trips to work. Any help would be appreciated.

you're not going to get much softer than it already is. non-OEM suspension parts typically don't go softer rides. OEM replacement parts, from brands like Monroe, sometimes advertise a softer ride, but i have no experience with them.
Appreciate the feedback... I guess I could go with a new set of shocks direct from Honda, I seem to remember the ride being a little better when it was brand new... I'm not looking for Cadilac deVille soft (ie. marshmellow), just softer. Unfortunately a good portion of the ride to work is over poorly kept roads.
Does anyone else have actual, direct experience with softer, vs. sportier shox?

Cuz if the ride on a stock accord is too harsh for you, it is time to move your old bones into a nice country club mobile like a camry.

You guys are harsh. Like philadd said you can check with OEM replacement stuff, some of those may be a bit softer but otherwise you may be out of luck.

Actually, if you really want to have a nice smooth ride, go get konis revalved to very low spring rates and have some custom springs made. But I think you should just drive a camry..

man, a camry? jeez this guys looking for help not ball bustin, besides the coupe deville is the way to go, i've got a 77, it rides smooth(marshmellows) the only problem is i can't drive it longer than30 min without something breaking! I don't know much about suspension but i've heard that oem is the real smooth ride for hondas. besides if you do spend cash to get aftermarket shocks don't you realy have to be carefull during installation? i've ridin in some cars with aftermarket shocks that make you feel like youre a hemroid suferer, however they made the car look very cool.
Sell your car and buy an Acura TL, the ride on that car is smooth and it has ***** that are bigger than the accord
But seriously though, I used to drive a Corolla and the ride was smoother than the Accord but the performance sucked... which is probably why I was in that accident
Just go OEM, maybe your shocks are blown and give a harsher ride since the streets you drive on are crappy.
