Guage cluster problems
Hey guys,
I recently aquired a third gen prelude. The guage cluster is acting very strange.
1. Basically the speedometer and tach do not work IF the E-brake is down. When E-Brake light is Lit (E-Brake ON) the guages work fine however.
2. When I have my turn signals on the tach/speedo will start dancing on and off according to the turn signal interval.
3. If I open up the coin holder the guages stop working.
4. The Battery light in the guage cluster stays on constantly even though I have a new working battery.
My friend told me this all started happening after he had his brakes repaired. I have already checked the fuses under the dash and they are all correct and working.
It sounds like some sort of electrical problem. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?
Thanks in advance!

Hmmmm......from the symptoms (the way everything is affecting your basic gauges) I'd say you've got a short in there somewhere. Check the wiring harnesses from all the gauges and see if you can find any breaks in the wires visually. If that doesn't work, you're gonna have to get a hold of a service manual and start flipping through schematics.
