How do you read the ECU codes for 97 TL's? The check engine light is on and I don't know why..I searched but did not find anything..Thanks

You need a OBD2 code scanner. Then right under the ashtray there is a plastic cover,pop it off then there will be the socket you plug the scanner into. After that just follow the instructions for the scanner.

 

96-97 Hondas and Acuras are covered by an emissions warranty extension to 150k miles. Basically, if you own a 96-97 honda or acura and the check engine light is on you can get it fixed free at the dealer. Unless you had major mods like a turbo kit or something, which I'm sure is not the case on a TL. Also, you can jump the SCS connector in the passenger floorboard and the CEL will flash the code. The 3.2TL is known for clogged EGR ports, while the 2.5TL sees frequent 02 sensor failures.

 

ahh I didn't know there was a ecu jumper connector on the tl like the integras/civics. Damn I'm a shitbag

Free, assuming the check engine light is related to emissions.

 

True, if the CEL was trans. related it wouldn't fall under the extended warranty.
