From my own experience, they do not deter theft at all. I had some one steal the stock rims off my civic in front of my house. Apparently there is a special lug nut remover that you can buy if you lose the lock for the locking lug nuts. Runs about $40 bucks. It has grooves in it to get a hold of the lug nut and a majority of the time the studs break too. Save your money because if they really want your rims they are gonna get them.

I think it can't hurt to have them. I have Honda stock wheel locks. I was went to Pasadena one night. I heard that they had several car breakins in the parking structures. Did not know if this is true.

But, when I came back, my center face plate for my right rear wheel was sitting on top of my trunk.

Someone had taken it off. No way that it was loose or something like that. If so, they could have just kicked it in so that it would not have fallen off. If it was loose and I was driving, it would have just fallen off on the street.

Not a big deal. I believe they saw my locks and just figured to hit another Honda.

But, if by chance they really have a hard up for my Honda, I am positive they will find a way to get it.

If you are gonna spend 200 for an alarm, just put in the 40 for the wheel locks too.

It can't hurt.

wheel locks won't phase someone that knows what they're doing.

but it will deter the 70% of amateur criminals that don't.
