Default b16b into a crx

hello all, i read here a lot but i nearly ever post. a friend and i have been saving up our money for nearly 6 months and almost have 3000 dollars (yeah we get paid 6 bucks an hour at a carwash). So my 18th birthday is in 2 weeks and ill probably be getting 200-300 more, so the swap is coming soon. Ive done a lot of research and so far it seems like a b16a is the best choice by far. and after that maybe a b18a... Anyway, I have done searches on honda-tech and google and i really cannot find any informatoin on a b16b which seems like a better choice with 180ish horsepower. Has anyone done this swap? And if not, is it possible to do?
thanks for the help in advance to everyone and if i missed a big post about this subject im really sorry but the search thing didnt work.

Ps- my friends dad owns a shop so we basically have any tool you can think of in our hands at anytime of the day and this is all free.

Honestly, if you have the money for a B16B then just get the B18C-R. It's like $300 more and it has about 30+hp with just around 20+ of torque. If you have a Civic your car will be a monster with a b18 be. It's the Type-R motor for the 96-97 Integra. Check out http://www.totaljdm.com for all of the specs. It comes with the hydro tranny and for about another $70 the shift linkage. Check out nicedc2r for the JDM final drive and all of that. But listen don't waste your money on the B16B. You're almost there, just get the B18C-R and you'll dump on people with a stock motor.

p.s. You lucky punk.

My opinion B16B's and B18C5's are overpriced due to there rare status. If I was you for the price of one of the type r engines you could build a nice LS-VTEC or a B16 turbo.

just my .02 cents

Did you ever think, that most people cant build a lsvtec or a b16 turbo and have a hard enough time bolting in a b series?

Did it ever occur to you that the reason ITR engines are so high in cost is because of their simplicity.

Lets think for a whole 30 seconds, bolt in a engine make 190+ HP, or build a engine and save a few bucks and hope it dosent blow up or just hope it runs becuase they really had no idea what they were doing.

Just my 0.02

Sorry dude, even if you do all the work yourself you wont get a b16b in your car for $3,000.
Try a b16a if all you have is $3,000-3,300, then use the rest for tune up, I/H/E, and clutch, flywheel mods.
Ryan

PS, check the sig for details

No. Actually their horsepower output is very close, if not approximately equal - and this has been proven on dynos. Most people don't realize that Honda underrated the B16B.

Yep, I have to agree with that.

No need to get all hostile. If he has the cash by all means get a type r engine, but it sounds to me like he does not and he should go for a more cost effective engine.

hp might be pretty close, but its all about torque. the itr motor has more torque due to the larger displacement so i'd go for the b18c5 over the b16b any day if i had the money like u. hey, i have about $3g's saved up.......oh wait, thats how much i'm in debt, my bad. lol

I have b16b didnt spend 3g on it.

much better then a b16a, gsr.
in my case I can build a motor faster then an JDM ITR cause the price I paid was bad ***.

donesn't have torque but gets the job done soon to be high compression ITR

Actually, the power output of the B16B is 185HP (crankshaft). The 1996-1997 B18C5 (JDM) puts out 200HP. And the 1999-2001 B18C5 (JDM) puts out 210HP. This power difference between the early and ater B18C5 is due to (1) mainly, the fact that the later motor has the factory 4-1 header vs the cast manifold found on the early motor, and (2) to a slightly lesser degree, a slightly more aggressive cam.
