what a night, tranny problems with the d
So last night i take my girl to go see Exorcist(sp?) and then drop her off. i come back to the house because my car is throwing a code 17 for my speed sensor. the reason being that my harness wasnt plugged in all the way when i installed my tach and such last night (was in a rush to get finished). so i fix that, look at the clock and see that its about 10:30 so i decided to go kick it with John and see some races. well on my way out there i notice the car is a little rough when i change gears like the tranny didnt wanna. so when i get over to John i poop the hood and figure its because the clutch cable was restricted on movement so i free it from being tied down to my fuel rail. We go to another spot to chill and the car is just fine now. then we get to a lil meet up, i decide to clear my ecu so my vtec will kick in (it was running in limp mode due to the check engine light mentioned earlier). So i take of town the street hitting 1st, 2nd, and 3rd to cruise to the stop sign. come down the next street and gun it. make another right go to the stop sign and make my last right. well i gunned 1st gear, went to 2nd, then from out of no where my front tires totaly lock up making me skid about 4 car lenths. the car behind me swerved and got around me. so here i am, in the middle of the street and the car will not move. John comes down and we determine the tranny jut locked up. it will only go into 5th gear (when the shifter is in neutral, if i put the shifter into any gear it just locks the wheels). so now im out for trying to get another CRX/Civic Si tranny.
So banging on the transmission didn't solve the problem? Hmp. Because that always works so well for me.
Sounds like the answers you're looking for are inside that tranny.
But unless you know what the inside of a tranny looks like, it will be far easier (and probably cheaper) to just find a used replacement tranny.
