90 crx dx---to zc swap (automatic)!!
I have a 90 crx dx automatic, I want to swap in a zc automatic. what ecu do I need? and will the harrness need swaped out aswell?
I have read about doing some splicing and pin arrangements and I need a injector box and wiring, or is it easier to buy a new harness all together?
has anyone done this swap (automatic)?
I am in Orlando and need to get this car back on the road asap.
a ecu and harness is whats holding me up right now.
any help would be awesome! mikevh60n@msn.com

are you really wanting to swap it as an auto, or is it because you think swapping the car to manual is to tricky?
i swapped auto to manual.. its a piece of ****.

I am new to this what do I need to swap to 5 speed? shifter, peddels, linkage?
how hard?
is there any sites that take you through the process?
I can just use a pg7 ecu then? rather than a pg7 a1

You need the clutch linkage, pedal assembly, shift linkage, shifter, center console with all misc trim and brackets. And a little wiring im assuming for the clutch release switch?? All the mounting points are available on automatics so it is a bolt in affair. Now as for locating everything, either your rich or gonna be rich (with knowledge. Junkyards and ebay are your wallet's best friend.)
You can use the pm6 computer from and si or if you have a ZC computer use that. I know pm6's are easy to "Hack." As for wiring everything up. Well I would say in this instance you'd want to buy a wiring diagram/service manual ( if you can find one go Factory Honda.) I am pretty sure the wiring is the same between the DOHC ZC civic and the SOHC ZC. Just Two bumpsticks instead of the lonely one. Lastly the automatic and manual are wired different so be carefull (quality multimeter is your friend here.) Otherwise I'd be happy to convert your car for you. ($40/hr)
Lastly, If your going for a drag/turbo car then I could see why you would want an automatic. But I see no reason why you wouldn't want a manual past this reason. But Thats just my opnion.

FYI i got a manual gauge cluster and plugged it in, leaving the extra plug of plugs hangin, thing works perfectly. just follow the directions on that site i linked you too and if you have any questions feel free to pm me.
I thought it would be cool to leave the a/t face in there. Rig it up so when you put it in to reverse the "R" lights up on the gauge cluster. Maybe even go as far as making switches so when you bang through the gears the numbers light up.

I think I am going to leave it automatic....
I live in Orlando and will be doing alot of I-4 driving.......stop and go stop and go...
so ..... this is going to be a daily driver, the o.e. engine gave up the ghost ; I figgured I would replace it with a little more punch. so If I get a jdm zc with auto tranny allready on it, then would my harness have to changed? or will it be just a typical zc swap?? I neeed to score an ecu if anyone knows of one.

in order to swap the zc your would have to do a dual port fuel injection to multiport fuel injection swap.
even for stop and go i would rather have a manual.

Well, if you are going to get the ZC and it comes WITH the auto, then you will have axle issues. If you are using your stock auto, then just follow this handy guide for installing a ZC by 4th Gen @http://www.fourthgenhatch.com/index2.html. On his site he has the ZC, MPFI, and all other manner of goodies.
On the matter of I-4 driving, what are you, man or mouse? Come on, I-4 has three gears, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. 2nd for stop and go, 3rd for congestion and 5th for cruising. You can probably cut it down more, but that is myself when I'm stuck in, especially when one of those great afternoon storms pass through

Not a big deal, but you don't need the console.
You can use the automatic console and just get the shift boot from a manual.
If you order the boot from Honda, then it comes with the metal bracket that goes under the console.
The auto console has holes for the screws to hold the bracket/boot on.
You also need the correct manual tranny mounts.

I bought my Ls motor for 500 bcks you can buy a b16 swap first gen for under what you are going to pay for the ls swap and yet the b-16 has more power stock
Um....your money. It just depends on how much labor you really want to do, but me myself would tackle it on my own. Jeez, $2900 sounds a little harsh. $700 for the motor, $400 for transmission, $300 for mounts, damn, thats like $1500 in labor. Ouch
5 speed conversion, peddels, shifter, brackets, all new seals, timming belt, water pump, radiator, pretty much a new drive train all together....the engine has 42,000 on it and it is real clean, looks new under valve cover. ecu, harness, I am sure there are alot of little things that add up aswell........but hey it's only money right...I have no time at all to work on the car right know and I need some daily transportation....I have to drive my restored 66 bug back and forth to work as it is... and there are way to many idiots out there to risk a fender bender to say the least! I will let yall know how it turns out!
