Default 90 Accord LX, Auto Tranny Drops Down To 2nd While Under Speed

My Uncles 1990 Accord LX drops from 4th/OD to 3rd then 2nd after he has drove it a few miles.

He recently had to replace the speed sensor, and every once in a while the car will be lazy upshifting.

I think his "S" light has blinked off/on before too.

Thanks for any ideas.

I recently had transmission problems with my 91 Accord...well, I'm still having other tranny problems...it would often try to start off in a higher gear than it should. In addition to the S light being on, the speedometer wasn't working. I replaced the speed sensor, and that initially seemed to fix everything. Then, the gear problem started again. From similiar posts on the net, I decided it was a problem with the transmission computer...These run nearly four hundred bucks from a dealer new but sell on Ebay for 110...I got one, put it in, and no problem no more....email me for details on getting one if you feel this might be your problem..Phil...philax5@aol.com
