Default ITR vs Progressive

They called my mother today to inform her that back in January I became an excluded driver from my insurance. well they are not paying for the claim on my car. I immediately paid my car payment and will have them stop taking the insurance prem. out of my account.

Now for the good news: I call my motor-head friend, John and asked him if we could pull the motor out of the R this weekend. He said he was down. He also said he knows a guy trying to sell his '92 Civic hatch for $500 (b/c its motorless). So here is my plan: Yank the motor, tranny, 5 lug conv and suspension, and seats out and put them into a civic hatch. Get a 50shot and some slicks and say hello to 12s.

Makin' lemonade out of lemons man...or should I try and fight the insurance company?

If you were covered when you had the problem then you were covered.
They can't say after the fact that they are dropping you off the plan. Its too late for them.
Fight them.

well maybe I should elaborate more. Our insurance policy is in my mother's name (so we get that multi-car discount). I lost my license last July (over a year ago) and got them back this past Jan. Well come to find out Progressive SUPPOSEDLY sent us a letter saying that my mother needed to agree to make me an excluded driver or they were going to drop the policy. My mother then tells me that she never signed anything that would make me an excluded driver (and knowing my mom that is quite possibly a big fat *** lie).

Bottom line is that if Progressive cannot find where my mom physically signed a doc. that made me an excluded driver then they dont have **** on us. Right? Well to make matters worse my mother has given up complete hope. She called me when I got off work last night and said she wants her car back (her Volvo that I have been driving). She said that they are not going to cover it (she's annoyingly repetative), she is done ******* with it, and that because I am an excluded driver she will not be allowing me to drive her car anymore. That means Im fucked. I have a $350/mo. car payment on a car that I cant even drive and now I have virtually no transportation to and from work and school.

I could have this swap done (if all the chips fall right) in three weeks and be back on the road. I would get the cougar fixed but the Hydraulic Control Unit (ABS control, Master cylinder, reservoir and misc parts) is going to cost me $1400 just for the parts and I can get the civic for $500. Which seems more cost effective to you guys? btw I cant afford an attorney unless I can find one that will try my case and then let me set up some type of payment plan with him/her.

Regardless, the R is getting towed back to my house tomorrow. I will post better pics so you guys can see the damage first hand.

Progressive is the WORST insurance company I have dealt with. I'm sure there are others who will say when they got in a accident, Progressive was there for them to resolve it quickly, but as for when you've decided to drop insurance with them or change to a better company they suck.

If you work for Progressive and this offends... I don't care and I'm still not going to apologize.

Good luck getting this issue resolved

UPDATE: Well since Progressive failed to find a signature from my mother excluding me they are going to cover it. I dont know how much they are going to pay out but i only owe $12,3xx so hopefully they will pay that (and maybe then some).

I should go get my Kenji, intake etc out of the car, shouldnt I?

Btw FS: OEM ITR header, cat, exhaust, factory air box, and maybe a Kenji ECU w/ OBD-I ad. and a Injen SRI.

Whenever I see stories like this, all I can say is.... STATE FARM !!!

Seriously.

Everybody tries to save money with Geico and Progressive, but it's really not enough cheaper than State Farm to be worth the hassle if you ever actually need your insurance company.
