All kinds of clunking a in 2001 Base
So, I have a 2001 base Prelude with 67K on it. When shifting from first to second, I can often hear a slight "clunk" noise coming from the engine bay. I understand that this could be a motor mount, but if so, which one is more likely to be bad? This only happens in low-speed conditions, but nonetheless, it is aggravating all the same.
Also, whenever I make a sharp left-hand turn, I can hear some kind of clunking in what sounds like the trunk. Obviously I've made the check for tennis *****, body parts, etc., so thusly, it's something to do with the car. It sounds almost like the seatbelt buckle smacking the interior panel, but I've already dismissed this as being the cause.
Anyone?

probably the front more than the rear, it could be your exhaust manifold banging against the radiator (which is possible if the engine isn't mated to the front mount).
For the trunk one, did you check to see if your spare tire, tools, and jack are secured?

Thanks for the tip on the mount, but as for the rear, I've already thought about and dismissed the spare tire and accoutrements as culprits.
I remember seeing something about a TSB on this problem, but I forget where I saw it.

I've had both problems in my '00. The first one was indeed a loose motor mount. Was under warranty and Honda found it, so I'm not sure which one. You should be able to tighten both sides and the front mount relatively easily, so try that and see if you're fixed up.
Trunk problem for me was the dreaded "shock knock." Honda did have a TSB related to that and their fix made my problem go away.
