Default 97-98 vs 00-01

What are some of the major differnces between the newer itr's and the older ones??? I've heard the older ones are slower but not much else. The reason i ask is I was set on getting a 2001 but i found a cw 98 for sale in my area and im really considering it now, infact im going to look at it in about a half hour . So any info would be appreciated, thanks.

major differences? none really.
interior trim - 00+ have "carbon fiber" trim
AC standard on 00+
Color change

As far as the new ones being faster..... I forgot who it was, but someone found that the 00+ ITR intake cam matched the profile of a CTR cam.... so has anyone confirmed the 00+ uses CTR cams?

Not quite exactly the same as CTR cam, but close. 00 and 01 use unique cam shaft, not the same as CTR, JDM, 97-98 spec USDM R.

As for power? I doubt there is a huge difference for a stock car, but maybe after some tuning.

I think they use different brakes. At least brake pads are different.

I thought the older US-R's didn't come with power stuff like windows and doors while the newer ones did. Maybe I'm wrong. I never pay attention when I see an R.

Then why did you bother posting moron

1998 rear wiper included, new style headlamps tailamps and bumper covers still all white

1999 no usdm R

2000-2001 Black or Yellow, faux carbon fiber in interior, slighly different cam profile and slightly different ECU program, same peak HP rating

Oh another Internet tough guy!!!!! I was commenting about your quote "I never pay attention when I see an R" if you don't then why bother sharing what you don't know. This is after all the Type R board. As far as threatning me with a gun......well I'll leave that alone.

Gee, I didn't know everyone on this board had to know everything. I thought people could share what they thought they knew and be politely corrected if they were wrong...hence the LEARNING opportunities of such boards. If everyone knew everything, then what would be the purpose of these boards? If you actually read my reply, I stated that I was either told or read that, so I shared what I thought may have been correct and in my original post, it was phrased with some uncertainty, awaiting for someone to politely correct me if I was wrong. You replied like the "moron" you claim others to be by being an *******...that was what I had a prob with. If you think you're the **** and don't think anyone should share what they think or think they know w/o undisputable proof that they are correct, then you should start your own board for the know-it-alls. If not, then try learning not to reply like a "moron". Ever notice many boards are turning to **** cuz of disputes and "pissing" contests?...that's cuz of ppl like you who feel they must act like jerks to be cool. Read any of my posts and I never cuss at anyone or ridicule them unless they're an ******* first.

Ok Sorry! I misunderstood your first response, "I don't bother looking at Rs" I thought you were trying to be an *** by saying that you don't pay attention to R because you don't care/you don't like them, whatever. If that wasn't the case them, my mistake. Do you threaten everyone that calls you a moron with a gun? It easy to talk trash thousands of miles apart. Hence "Internet Tough Guy". To sum it up I mistook your first response. I'll shut up now.

Anyways, I noticed my buddy's '00 had an outside trunk release lever. When the doors are unlocked, you release the trunk from the outside. I've never once seen/heard of this before, all i know is my 97 doesn't have one. When did they add this?

Anyone ever added this thing if not Orig equipped? Cause I want one!

Does this mean there is no trunk lever next to the gas filler door lever?

that's cool. I don't threaten everyone, but I've been members of various boards for several years now and am starting to see more and more ppl who have attitude problems instead of just being informative and friendly, which is what these boards were meant to be. I'm getting a lil tired of ppl acting like idiots. All I want is a friendly arena to communicate knowledge and ideas. Eventually, it gets too annoying with immature ppl crowding the forums. Whether their information is valuable or not, I'd rather not have it and learn on my own if it means they're going to be an *** about giving it or ridicule others for not knowing it. I take breaks now and then from these forums just cuz the bickering and stupidity gets too much. That's cool about the misunderstanding, but I think more ppl need to ask for an explanation or something first before the post turns to ****.
