mis-shifted last night :(
long story short, i shifted from 4th redline to 3rd for half a second. im a good driver so i caught my mis-shift right when it got in for half a second and quickly shifted to neutral. no valves are ticking yet and ive driven it for a good hour after the incident. is it possible i didnt bend a valve? or i did bend one...but its just not clucking right now.
idle is good, like normal. im scared to take her to redline now. i guess im going to do some easy driving for a week. btw i ran a 14.7 @ 94 mph last night, woot
was hoping to get into 14.6 or better but i only got to run once.

I have to a little question to ask here.. though i'm slightly afraid to make it a topic on it's own.
I'm still running my engine in, it's under 400k's on the odometer.
Problem is i've been going alittle harder than i should be lately, is this okay? Is it not a serious problem to go too hard on the engine just less frequently while the engine is still running in....?
I've taken it to 6k's regularly, 8k's twice, and 7k's twice. I've never shifted it at 8k's at every gear yet. It's just along the highway i might drop a gear and bring up the rev's abit to catch up with some others.. I'm alittle worried, but i guess it's my fault. Has anyone else found that trying to avoid redlining the beast during break in period is extraordinarily difficult? I certainly have.
But whats the worse that could happen from this?
Sorry for being off topic from the post.

do a compression test. better yet a leak down. If its bent you will hear the hissing. you should be doing better than 14.7 if you have a turbo kit. alot better.

yeah your fine.. I did the same thign in my GSR on the highway.. was trying to show up this newer cav Z24. I was pushing in 4th and thought to myself, damn my car is slow, and dropped it into 3rd without even thinking.
Perfect rev match too, Car saw about 9k for maybe only half a sec before I realized how dumb I was and pushed the clutch in. 5k miles later, no problems, no weird noises.

I say your car is fine, mechanic at the dealer once told me when I mishifted that you would definately get a check engine light if anything were wrong w/ the engine b/c OBDII is so sensitive to any changes.
sounds like everything is fine......sometimes ppl get lucky.
i bent some valves a while back, and the car was bearly drivable, if your idle is fine, and you haven't heard any weird sounds, i wouldn't worry about valves.....
but with a 1/4 time of 14.7 with a turbo, i'd worry about your setup!

Why take it easy for a weak?If it isn't broke don't worry about it.When mine overeved it idled like ****.Another thing that typically happens during and over rev is a bent rod.It is almost always #3.Pull your plugs and check them for any fowling.Good luck

I had the same "problem" staying off the gas during my break in time. In fact, on my test drive with 63 miles on the car, the salesman insisted that I really get on it to appreciate the car, so I redlined second
. That was before I even knew that the car should be broken in properly. 10k miles later, everything is still perfect
and running strong. Another girl I know with a type R didn't break hers in at all- hard driving from day 1... still fine.I wouldn't worry too much.

Sounds like mis-shifting is not the thing to do....
I've never done it, then again my car is a POS and I'm not too worried about it even though when I was driving it would see 6K(redline) quite often

fuel cut off is 8200 in a GSR.. it was 'perfect' in the sense that i was able to downshift into a lower gear from high rpm. It went in like butter, normally id expect the shifter to fight being forced into a lower gear at such an rpm... thats what i meant.... it was gay.. i choose not to remember my bad driving mistakes like that...

Maybe I should do a leakdown and compression test just to be safe.

He he he he...I bounced off the limiter in 2nd today, for the first time in my life. Should I be concerned?

You should monitor the oil closely level too.
OT:
I got happy the other day and went into fuel cut off. I was not paying attention to the tach. (watching traffic). Now I have a buzzer.
