Default Have a few Q's about CD player install

I have a 2000 Civic Si factory cd player and want to install it into an 88-91 CRX. Now from what I understand the factory stereo harnesses are compatable from 88-97 (I think, not sure). However as the Si stereo is 99-2000 I am pretty sure it won't be plug and play. In a nut shell I guess I am asking what I need to do to make this work. Also I do not have the harness for the Si stereo so I am thinking that I need to get the factory harness for the Si stereo and one of those harnesses from best sbuy or something for the CRX side where it plugs into and splice the wiring but I am not sure so if anyone could fill me in on whether this is right or there is an easier way please let me know. Thanks in advance...

I found the two part numbers and I bought them today from best buy. Best Buy actually carries metra products and they had them in stock. Anyway I connected the wiring but there is one orange wire left on the stereo side of the harness and when I checked the color guide it said the orange wire was for "Illumination". since there was no orange wire on the into-car side of the harness I'm wondering if this is actually for the back light on the stereo. What do you think?

it probably attaches to your dim switch. have you had it on yet? does it glow? if not try attaching it to the ignition on switch. i thik newer models had a seperate wire for lighting.. older ones used the usualy constant.. so the older car wouldnt have a wire for that.. just a htought im not 100%

ok so now I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have to do something with that lone wire that I mentioned in the post above. So does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should splice that wire into so that the deck will be backlit? I guess it should be spliced into one of the accessorys but I'm not sure which one. any suggestions?

if your rex is has an illuminated light above the cig lighter or ash tray
you can tap that light for your illumination on the radio. Or if not you can
extend it to your fuse panel and tap it into one of the male spades ( one is
tied to your park light circuit)

does anyone know if the stock 00 Si Cd player has RCA jacks on the back.
what's the best way to splice in my iPod into the player?
can i get an adapter that hooks into the cd-changer input?
