Type R ECU in GS-R...possible?
I've done a lotta searches for this topic, but haven't found anything on it.
My gs-r isn't a dc2 motor, but it's been built up with itr components.
anyhow, at wot, up to about 6k, it'll give a higher jolt in power, I know i need to get some new engine management system, but i was wondering if maybe a type r ecu would help do the trick and keep the power close to same throughout the whole rpm band.
i guess my real question is - is it possible to put a type r ecu into my gs-r? it's a 98...i mean they're both obdII...from what i understand there's a little security chip on the ecu and key that only lets the car start when the key with the chip in it...anyone know what i'm talking about?

The 2000 to 2001 had the immobilizer. If you can find an 97 or 98 that'll plug and play. you'll also need a single runner intake manifold. The itr doesn't have a dual stage intake manifold. You'd want itr valvetrain with this setup. THe itr has a higher redline.
Why not spend the money on a tunable setup, rather than an ITR ECU?
Oh, and if your GS-R has the original motor, then it is a "DC2 motor". DC2 = '94+ Integra VTEC coupes.
