Default ITR Suspension Checking/Problems

Hi All,

Problem with my ITR, recently the front wheels have felt unbalanced, and before I went to get them re-balanced i thought I would just have a tug on the wheels and make sure there is no play......

The front left wheel when tugged at the top and NOT jacked up seems to have about a 1-2mm movement in it, I can feel it knocking backwards and forwards when push/pulled. The movement comes from the top half and upwards of the hub, almost sounds like upper ball joint.

But When I jack the wheel up and the check for play 9-3 or 12-6 there is nothing, which kinda confuses me and when i tug the wheel and place my hand round the upper balljoint I cant feel anything.

Any body got any pointers/direction?

Is there a guide that anyone has that I can work through to check suspension? Its really hard to check for movement if a wheel is off so what do you guys all do? or more importantly how.....

BTW - she has done about 70k

Ok will check, doesn feel like a bushing thou if you know what i mean, feels like a balljoint worn, you know like a clunk clunk rather than play in a busing.

This may sound stupid but how would you check bushings - just a visual inspection?

clunk =

bushing check = large screwdriver/pry bar. just try to move the bushign around and see if it clunks.

No its not under braking its around 60-70 and only very slightly when no turn is applied i.e when going straight, I actually noticed it was more pronounced after heavy acceleration, i.e when the front end is lifting.

clunk = A dull sound; a thump. A blow that produces a dull sound. To make or move with a clunk. To strike something so as to make a dull sound.

You know if a ball joint had play you could imagine moving it back and forth and hear/feel clunk clunk as it hit the side.
