---some ideas for why my car is running rich>?---
Ok, my car is running really rich. Smoking at idle is one of the problems. Im running a usdm B18c and the psi of fuel is at 35. it was lowered from 45psi down to 35psi and it still if running rich. My plugs are black from carbon buildup. Did a compression check and a full machine shop leakdown of the head. the ecu im running is a Jun prog. that is known to run real rich. However i never had this problem in the past. Oh yea i also leaned out my vafc also. Any help would be nice...thanks guys...
Ps: Im running stock injectors with a -8 fueline feeding fuel into my rail through an aftermarket fuel rail. But the feed is on the same side as my return...can this cause a problem becuase the fpr is on the side as the main feed??? thanks
- im thinking of having my fuel injectors blue-printed and balanced...

my ecu ran horribly rich to where it was puffing smoke at idle. the long term fuel enrichment must have screwed me over cause i was running without 02 sensors.
i bought a wideband so im gonna tune mine out, but i had set the afc to -30 all across to tune out the richness, and looking at my plugs to determine proper reduction

damn i got the same problem its puffing smoke at idle i took a sniff wasnt coolent it was super rich lol stings my nose
think my b&m fpr messing **** up

yea i hear you guys, i ran my car without an o2 sensor for the longest time also....but i just want this **** to stop smokin...any tips? im gonna change my injectors right now too so ill see how that goes...i think im gonna unplug my vafc too... i mean i want to break my motor in until i get a chance to tune it on a dyno with a wideband to make suer everything is good...thanks keep them commin ya'll,
yeah i think that u gotta get the fuel trims back in check.
i did my research to determine that the ecu can do a maximum of 30% trim (http://hondata.com/techclosed.html) so i used that to pull out with the afc
now before u do this and think everything is alright, i do have some wideband data to backup my concerns with this.
i have watched and during ANY light throttle accel whatsoever, like going up hills, or any speed increase, the car will kick out from trying to read the o2. now it will be running with the proper a/f that the computer determins from its preset maps.
since u CAN preset between low and high throttle maps on the afc based on TPS u can try to use that to set your trims up. the only thing is that the ECU uses more than that to determine when to go to its preset maps, so there will be times when it will not work.
now that i have a wideband, with a narrowband output, i will be able to control every aspect of the tune (hopefully) but i dunno how its gonna work out until its done
good luck

cool. i actually leaned out the car a little too...if all else fails ill run on the car rich until i can get it on a wideband/dyno so i know everything is ok...thanks for the help yo!
what kinda motor build do u have goin
if it were mild compression i would lean it out some cause i drove one of my cars for awhile like this and there was so much carbon buildup on the ports i had alot of trouble getting it off.

its just a gsr with p30's and s2s2 head...standard bore... the comp is 240 all accross.... so i guess thats pretty healthy considering it has a stock head gasket. no mill or nothing like that, a really basic set-up!
hey guys,
I had this problem and it was a result of a bad IAT sensor. (When these go bad, it set the ECU to run rich).
I changed it for $35 and it was all better!

Good lookin' out becuase im throwing a iat code and MAP!!!this is probably why that motor runs rich...imma check out the wiring tommorow!
yea of course, actually the these are the codes that are throwing up right now....Iac-Iat-Map, so ill have to check all those wires instead....what a pain in the ***....Im pretty sure the map is what's causing the car to run rich....hopefully.
just woundering dose those cel stay on?
or go away when you turn the car off and start it again
i have that on my car no clue what it is

well if the code stays on then that means that there is a cel indicating there is a problem. My light stays on during the first click but then starts blinking the cel codes due to the pin being plugged.
