Oil pan gasket....help

i took my car to the shop this morning becuz oil started to leak. Found out that the oil filter had a crack and i got that replace and now it doesn't leak anymore. But the shop told me to repalce the gasket on the oil pan since oil got all over it. They said they would charge $150 for labor to to replace the gasket on the oil pan. Do u guys think that's a rip off? Also how hard is it to replace the gasket by myself? Also do u guys think it is neccesary to chage the oil pan gasket?
I would replace it... $150 sounds reasonable... What shop is this that you are taking your car to? You can do it by yourself, might take some time though (gotta take off the header, and some other brackets).... If you want, I know a guy that will change it for u for about $150, plus he uses genuine honda parts... Anyhow, good luck....

(Think about that...)

Why? going shop rate at is around 60-85 dollars, flat rate shows probably 1.5,
so about 100 bucks in labor, 15 bucks for the gasket, and 15 bucks for oil. Thats pretty close to 150.
Is that a ripoff? no, is it expensive? yes.. I personally would do it yourself. It's very easy.

They're trying to rip him because he doesn't need a new gasket. As posted above, just because oil got all over the pan, doesn't mean he needs a new gasket.
But if you want to change it yourself, it's a fairly easy job.
