Default 1st post, Tranny trouble?

Hey all,

I drive a 97 sh with a triptronic trans. Last week after driving in stop and go for about 30 min I had hell bust loose. I was stopped at a light, pressed the gas at green and was greeted by mad hesitation and then the gear selector started clicking, as well as the tranny trying to shift. I didn't have crazy rpms but the car just shuddered until I pulled over. When I shifted into park to shut it down the gear selector kept clicking, like it wanted to shift. I killed the motor and waited a few minutes, then limped her almost all the way home, two blocks away the car did the same thing again. Pretty sure its the tranny but I just wanted to see if anybody 's got some tips. Only 105k and I only have minor mods (i.e. intake, exhaust, plugs &wires, and cams. Any help would be grand as I'm a little short on the cash flow. 'preciate it.

By the way before anyone else points out that I have no IQ, my 'lude is the base model with an auto triptronic trans, not sh. Just have a laugh at my stupidity.

105k and 97 SS = bad combination.

sounds like your tranny is broken. A common problem with the SS tranny.

i also have SS Prelude, it's cheaper to swap auto to manual than it is to have SS rebuilt. i have spent close to 10K on my SS tranny i am currently waitning for a manual trans. so i can do the swap. oh yeah, iv'e only had the car three years. swap it.

I agree. I have so many SS's come in with transmission problems. 9 times out of 10 we do the manual conversion. These trannys just don't hold up.

Thanks all of you for responding. It looks like the swap for me!
Thanks again.
