Default Look, and we wonder why we see so many " stolen tegs"

The CCC reports the ten most-stolen vehicles for 2003 are as follows:

1995 Saturn SL
1998 Acura Integra
1994 Saturn SL
1999 Acura Integra
1995 Acura Integra
1997 Acura Integra
1996 Acura Integra
1994 Acura Integra

2002 Mitsubishi Montero
2000 Honda Civic

http://autos.msn.com/advice/ar...c=Ins

why is 95 higher than 97 and 96 ...better hide my car from now on..

the immobilizers in the 00-01 integras must have helped that a little. 98's are stolen so frequently because of the front and rear end conversions..as well as the stock wheels.

Anyone who really knows what they're getting knows that it's easy as hell to get around an immobilizer though. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that the the majority of the 00 and 01 models haven't hit the secondary market yet and still belong to the original upper-middle class people who originally bought them from the dealership and who also keep them armed with satisfactory car alarms and garages.

Anyway, I no longer own my 01 and now have what is probably the trashiest looking 94 hatch on the planet, I'm not worried anymore.

I dunno...
i'm the 3rd owner on my 00, my friend w/ an 00 is the 2nd or 3rd...

i wouldn't say they are original owners, but they are more expensive so what you said still applies, they have the money to defend them a lil better...

i need that money.. i'mma build a fort for my car!

Same here, I must concur. The big dent on the left hand side, when I had purchased the car probably scares the thieves away. That and, I've never even had a problem with people staring down my car. Thats unless they see my FMIC but oh well, from behind, no one ever takes another look which is for me :D!

I bought my 00 from the first owner last year. Nobody ever tries to steal my car. It STAYS in the garage or at MAX 100 feet away from me at work. Like you said though the immobilizer is not hard to get around so how come 00-01 are not on the list? Especially since 00-01 is the year they made the ITR...

Hmm, well lucky me(sarcasm) i have a 2000 ls. Thats good to see though, for some odd reason or another the 2000-2001 are not on that list. I dont think however that it has anything to do with the upper-middle class, market this, market that. Its not like thieves check your vin# to see what year it is before they steal it. You would think now it would be the newest tegs being stolen, like 2000,2001 but it seems to be the older ones.

It's just one of those 50/50 things. I'm happy my '93 "box" didn't make it on the list. Got to admit though, still paranoid day in day out, even got a paging alarm... anything to stop those thieves.

yes i'm glad my 92 OBD1 GS-R is such a sleeper.... only the smart people that know that there is no third brake light and the VTEC side moldings or if you look inside the 8k tach, just to name a few. My car got broken into and i don't even think the thieves knew it was a GS-R, they didn't even pop the hood or go for stealing the very rare cluster.
All in All i'm quite happy with my box but i'm still super paranoid and take a ton of precautions. Hands down worst place to park is school...They know you go there everyday and they can see what time you leave so they know when to do it....it's Gay.

im sure someone wouldnt heasitate so steal my 94 gsr....

i think its partly our fault they get solen so bad... We pay so much for these b18 engines, transmissions front ends, the whole 9 yards..

I cant help but to think weve jacked the pricing of all these parts up through demand, and makeing them a popular and most important to a theif QUICK sale.

Quick Is what keeps them going without getting caught.
