Someone told me that the Dohc zc's that were setup for automatic trannys have differnt cams then the Dohc zc's that were setup for manual tranny's. Is that true?

 

Anyone know?

 

auto zcs are rated at 120hp

manuals are rated at 130hp

i dunno if its due to the cam or the tranny

 

Well i have a manual si tranny mounted to mine now. I was just saying it was orginally setup with a auto tranny when i got it from nippon..............and someone told me that the ones that were setup with a auto tranny have differnt cams

The dohc zc auto and manual cams are different. A couple months ago, someone on the http://crx.honda-perf.org forum had pictures and measurements of both cams. I think the main difference was in the cam phasing and timing, with the auto cams having less overlap or something. I don't remember if the lift numbers were different though. HTH

Someone just told me a second ago that the cames have the same lifts but are posistioned differntly. dont know if thats true or not just posting it here to see if anyone else has herd this.

 

This has been broguth up much on the CRX Resource (resource.crx.org) and what I have read is the auto ZCs timing is different and to fix it you just have to drill out where your dist. goes and make the slots larger. Thats the only difference.
