i want reliable and good daily driving power. power is not that much of an issue for me i just want a fun car that can be a demon on the streets
so which one u guyz think is gonna react better to boost? i only got two days to decide or the deals gone

The B16 will feel much better initially. The much shorter/tighter gearing makes for quicker acceleration, and it starts off with more horsepower so it will make more horsepower per pound of boost. I say B16.

B16A probably makes more torque to the wheels with tighter gearing than the B18B does with it's dog-*** long tranny. Remember, gear multiplication.

I personally like torque for my daily driver, which is why I am going with an LS turbo + GSR tranny. Not to mention that if I somehow blow it up, it will be easier on the wallet compared to a b16.

Contact or do a search on LS_REX. His name is Rob and he has an bone stock b18a longblock w/ 220k mi. on it and @ 13 psi he runs consistent mid 11 sec. passes. The car is daily driven and has been putting down these times ever since I met him!

i have a REX with a JDM B16a (Turbo). pulls hard.. one of my friend is almost done with his LS TURBO (hatchback).. b16 higher compression so less psi.. ls low compression so more psi ... its all about the internals so.. seen people getting 300 plus stock ls (TUNED). everything thats tunned is good.. so don't go cranckin the boost up... learned the hard way.. so one more vote for the B16
but then if i could i would go with LS.. so both are good... But B16 starts with more HP. like the one of the guys said...

LS turbo all the way.....
b18b=bad *** stump puller
b16=torqueless wonder
In all fairness, many people have had good luck with both setups, however the ls will def. put out more torque no matter what, and will also be more relaxed at highway cruising speeds (as long as you are using the ls tranny..), and please do not listen to all the people who say gsr tranny,b16 tranny, the gearing is tighter,blah,blah, this has also been covered a million times as well...You will be sure to run out of gearing quickly if you use anything but a ls tranny...Good luck, and check out my sig for a little info on my old setup....P.S., Dont listen to all the greddy turbo haters either..

ahha thanks. but a friend said that u dont really need torque on a light car its going into a hatchback. eg. w/ a greddy kit 18g. i didnt think this decision would be so hard to make. thanks for whoevers trying to help me out. im just so confused. its just i dont have much time to decide both prices on the motors is so damn good

My b16 with a gsr head makes peak power at 8200 rpm's, how's that for pulling all the way to redline?

As a former LS guy, im gonna say go w/ LS... The LS you get the low compression and you get the torque.. low compression allows u to push more boost and catch up on the HP. stock motor vs. stock motor the LS turbo's last longer then the B16's. They win more races too.
but I guess that is debatable
... At least around these parts of DFW 12 sec street tire passes w/ stock LS motors on boost are a common occurance. I dont hear about too many b16's doin this though. (If u know of some, let me know, id love to hear about the set ups)
Now, if you got big plans for the future(ie built block/big turbo) id say go w/ the B16. You get vtec and a short geared tranny which will benefit you in the long run.... and when u build the block, just build a gsr bottem end and then u get ur torque too.

If I remember correctly I know of an LS or two that fell to the b16 around this area, but no names will be mentioned.
But you do have a point about the LS motor, and we all know that they can last an extremly long time if tuned correctly with the right setup.
