just bought this car. 91 crx si MINT, tahetian green, jrsc, 99 d16y8, 91 computer, and it runs like its brand new,for real so i dont want to mess it up,but i think it could be faster,so the only thing i want is a ecu. its my only car so give me some help/expiriences/options. im in ny.

well i just lost to a 91 b16 teg and i didnt like that too much.
shouldnt mine be faster? but i still need to drive everyday.
how do you up the boost? anyone with a similar setup what type of ecu is best?

and then tune that biach,, u should uncover a few ponies like that

What fuel/timing management are you using now? The JRSC comes with a FMU, a IAT resistor relay, and instructions to retard the base timing by a lot. That's barely adequate and you give up a lot with that timing retard. The JR MAP controller helps that a lot, and the JR VPAC and BTC also help (all usually available cheap on ebay), but a programmable ECU willl definitely be your best option if you can tune it. You'll want to have a wideband O2 sensor to tune it, but if you don't know what you are doing you may want to have it done on a dyno by a professional. I'm using a Hondata S200 with a P28 I chipped myself, but I've seen a lot of newer setups that run Uberdata and it seems to work great. A local shop in NC sells a chipped ECU with Uberdata for about $200 with a basic tune and they put it on the dyno and tune it for a little extra. If you can find something like that in NY it may be your best bet. You'll also want some bigger injectors so you can get rid of the FMU. You can usually pick up a set of DSM 450 injectors for about $100 and *** resistors to make then compatible with your Honda ECU.

Raising the boost is done by changing the pulleys, either a larger crank pilley or a smaller supercharger pulley, but be careful with that, your stock injectors may not flow enough to support more boost and the Eaton M45 blower isn't very efficient when you get up above 10 PSI, causing you to get extremely hot air out of it, reducing the power you make, and increasing the likelihood of detonation.

 

thank you. i have a crane ignition retard. and this was my dads car. he built it all himself so he knows what to do i dont. he said the only thing he wanted was a zdyne but thats soo expensive so i just wanted to see what everyone else thought.

So I'm guessing you have a Crane HI-6TRC ignition with the Crane MAP sensor and the TRC timing controller. That setup would give you boost proportional timing control, which is half of what you need. The next thing you need is better fuel control. Since you already have timing control and don't want to spend $1000 on a standalone ECU, I'd suggect a fuel controller like a Apexi VAFC that will let you run bigger injectors and adjust the duty cycle, letting you get rid of the IAT relay and the FMU. You can usually find one on ebay for around $200:

After you get that you can get some DSM 450 injectors and add resistors in line with them to make them work with your Honda. Thay can usually be had for 50-100 on ebay:

Then you do what's called a VAFC hack so you can run the bigger injectors and tune the car with your new injectors.

Or you could get a Uberdata setup for about the same price as the VAFC and sell your Crane setup.

Either way I'd advise getting it tuned on a dyno by a professional if you don't know what you are doing. Dyno tuning time should be about $100-$150/hour and it shouldn't take too long to tune your setup, maybe an hour.
