VORTECH SC b16a2=b18c5?
Hey everyone i am planning to put a sc in my si with b18c5. I have searched recent and archived topics in type r and forced induction. I know alot of people are down on sc kits. But i was planning to find a good used vortech kit off a b16a2 and put it in my car. Would this work? I saw on the vortech site that they made one for the type r but when i read the archived threads they all said that there was not one offered event thought the web site stated it does. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, it will work. Make sure it will clear your ABS. I would recommend management, AEM to be exact, with this.
Ive seen 2 GSRs with Vortec superchargers, and i was HIGHLY impressed, considering they had no internals, and were daily driven cars with weekend use at the track. Very peppy from the start, and keep power ALL the way through the RPM. If you want forced induction and want the power from the line, and arent trying to be the fastest person on the planet, it might be the ticket for you. Search a little bit more and see what the Si and GSR guys have to say, and if they like it. It is a little pricey, but to each his own.
I would also look at some all motor setups as well.

yea i just wanted daily driveable with some nice peak numbers for the races on the roll.. everyone seems to be pretty happy with their vortech setups. I dont want to do any internals with minor fuel and maybe hondata. Allmotor upgrades in the end are going to cost just as much as sc'ers with less horsepower... thanks for the reply anyone else?
You can always piece together a turbo if you are gonna go with that thing, boost is boost. Just incase you thought an s/c is safer than a turbo. Anyway, I'm just wondering is it a 99-00 si?

yeah if you are that serious about boost, consider a turbo set-up.
Full boost at 3k rather than 8k

yea it is going into a 99si. I thought about going with turbo but it is just too complicated and this is going to be a daily driver(sleeper). I was going to try to find a used one for around 2500...
I saw some greddy turbo kits on ebay with an intercooler for a little over $2600 on ebay brand new. I don't know if they make them for a b18c5 though, just throwing it out in case you are interested. I'm not sure about this, but I think i read somewhere that the vortech s/c had to be removed to put in a new clutch on an si cause it's in the way. I'm not sure about this though.
I'm curious why you have a b18c5 in a 99si, what happened to the b16?

splat i saw your post previously on archived threads that you do not support sc'ers. Did you have bad experience with them or what? The reason i have a c5 is because i have a ek hatch that i bought a gsr for. Then i traded up for a c5. Now i am about to get a si because i just want something nicer. So i am going to swap the b16 to the hatch and sell that then i will have si with c5.
for searching! It's not that I have a problem with superchargers, it's that I don't like the Vortech for any application, let alone a Honda. It's a dyno queen - sure it makes great numbers, but only at peak revs.
There was a Civic Si around here a few years back (this is second-hand info, so please don't ask for details) that was putting down something like 270whp with a Vortech. But the owner said it was basically undriveable. Ease into it and the car was like stock - wind it out and it just spun.
I'm far from an expert, but if I were set on a supercharger for a B18C5, it would be the Jackson. Look for posts by the fella (can't recall his name on here) putting down 230-ish whp, with a very nice linear plot. Nice setup, but I think it was well above your $2500 budget.
yea i saw that post. He was running well into the 12's and was going to go even faster. I read on all the post that the jrsc was better for power but crappier for quality. This i my first honda and dont know much about them.

That would be a mistake IMO.........hang on to the C5 and if FI interest you then look into a nice turbo set-up. You seem to want to make decent power and with a mild kit you can do that easily. Tuning is the name of the game these days....im sure just about everybody would agree with me on that. Oh and if your buying an Si and and are seriously thinking about doing the k20 swap there is a guys for sale right now in Florida which is awesome for you......and he only wants 13,500. Thats a damn good price for an Si with that swap......just trying to give you some insight on the issue as well as my friendly thoughts and opinions. Best wishes with your decisions.....

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=975464 ........there is the link to the k20 powered Si. I talked to him today and i thought he lowered his price but perhaps i am the one whom is mistaken. Check it out though....
I think Matt from Hondata put down like 270 WHP on his 80,000 mile ITR. Out of all of them I think you would be happy with the Jackson the most. I had one on my stock internal GSR for 2 1/2 9psi and tuned with Hondata, made 240 WHP and 162 TQ out of it and loved the instant power. But I took it off to go the turbo route now, did a compression check on the motor and it came to be 215-215-210-215 accross the board. If your car is tuned properly with a JRSC on it, then I think you could easily make 255-265 instant HP, unbeatable from red light to red light.
does anyone have pictures of the kit from jrsc? i like the vortech because it just looks so clean and nice from the factory. The jrsc i heard was crappy quality. anyways anyone with pics would be nice!
